I know we have several children's librarians here, and many many parents, and people who were once young, and who love children's and YA literature so I thought I would share this here.

Margaret Mahy was a nationally celebrated author in NZ, and I know she was published around the world as well. I think everyone who went to primary school in the 80s and 90s has their own story of when she came to their school - more than her wig, I remember that she had big coat on.

She is being widely mourned here, and I think this blog post is such a lovely example of why.

What a lovely blog post. I've never heard of her, but have now requested that our library buy several of her books.

You've got to love writers who love children so well to give them the gift of such books!

Thanks for sharing, IrmaVep. And hugs to you for your loss.
