|
|
My cousin is throwing a birthday party this weekend for her son, who is turning one. I want to get him a little outfit, but I have no idea what size to get, or really how kid sizing works. ....
Okay, I just went to Old Avy-Nay dot com and looked at their size chart. It looks like there's a size for 12-18 month olds. Should I just go with that? I haven't met this kid yet, so I'm not really sure how big he is. I have seen one photo, and he definitely looks well fed, but I don't know if he's truly big for his age or if it's just regular baby chub. (I really know nothing about kids!) Should I get the next size up so he can grow into whatever I buy him? Or should I just relax, get whatever, include a gift receipt and call it a day? |

I would probablygo 18-24 months. Worst case scenario, it's too big for awhile. _________________ beefy and confused. |

Same. My kid is a month old and is wearing 3-6 months. _________________ Everyone thinks I do it to make people stare, but really, it's to keep them from looking too closely. |

Yeah, your safest bet is to go big. I just got my 1-year-old a bunch of ON stuff in 12-18mo. and it's pretty big on him, but he's on the skinny side (and IMO BG/ON run big). Just go 18-24mo and then you'll know they're going to get good use out of it. _________________ What can't that centaur woman do? |

Yep my kid was wearing 18m sizes at 1 year. But definitely get a gift receipt!!
But also, you could just send a quick email to your cousin and ask what size her kid is wearing! Then you don't have to guess. (Especially if it's a summer outfit and you want him to be able to wear it now.) People are always asking me what size K wears, it's not ruining a surprise or anything. _________________ Are you familiar with the old robot phrase "DOES NOT COMPUTE"? |

That's what I always do. It's the safest bet. _________________ The plural of anecdote is not data.

Whoa, that would be too easy! I thought about doing that but she'd probably tell me not to bring a gift, and then there'd be all that awkwardness. I will just go with the 18-24 size. Thanks to everyone for your input! |

As I was typing that I was thinking "there must be a reason why she's posting on glitter and not just asking..." But I suppose I was just throwing it out there that it's ok for others, too. :) _________________ Are you familiar with the old robot phrase "DOES NOT COMPUTE"? |
