Since the collapse happened before the show I'm guessing that the people most injured would have been on the stage crew or involved with the bands, but that's just a guess.
Lots of friends had tickets for that show (& lots of friends do behind-the-scenes work in music) so it was kind of a sad night for the people I hang with.
Hope all the other Toronto g* are all good too. It seems like accidents like this are more common at festivals... _________________ "My power doesn't come from other people's lust for my awesome vagina, thanks." - Enzyme

Yeah, I wasn't planning to go, but I also know a lot of people who had tickets. From what I read yesterday it seems that the person killed was a crew member, so I assume the two other people who were seriously injured were also crew.
This is (at least) the second significant stage collapse in Canada in recent memory though -- there was a major problem at Ottawa Bluesfest last year or the year before. _________________ I'm a sass-quatch. |

Some of my friends had tickets too. I went to see The Flaming Lips last night and Wayne Coyne said some very thoughtful words about the Radiohead incident, and they performed Knives Out. It was a sweet and tender gesture.
I think the Bluesfest collapse was due to high winds, but that wasn't so yesterday. The cause is still under investigation. Very sad. |
