Yay Sibee! And boooo for long wait times lol. I hope y'all are able to get it soonish. I'll probably go buy it this weekend (if I get paid on Saturday!). And I'll start a new thread up next week when we start reading it too. _________________ ps- you're my favourite. We should be friends.--e |

I ordered the book and should get it next week.
Where I live, a lot of universities have free community memberships. It usually gets me popular books faster than public libraries because fewer people think of them as a resource. Worth checking out! |

Not stupid...excellent, because I didn't know it was more than one volume lol. The copy I've been looking at and seeing in the bookstore is the 3 volume set (900+ pages).
So, to those who have read it already, did you read them separately or all as one book?
What does everyone else think? Split it up or tackle it all at once? _________________ ps- you're my favourite. We should be friends.--e |

I hadn't seen this thread until today, but Haruki Murakami is one of my all time favorite authors and I just started 1Q84 this week! Weird! I had to wait for dr. sec'y to finish it, he is also a huge fan, it was one of the things that brought us together :)
I'll check back in here after I finish. _________________ There were doves everywhere, and they were crying their asses off. |

I didn't realize that it was so large until I went to pick it up. It's a beast!
I would suggest that we start with Volume 1, and then go from there. _________________ Wenn's dir nicht gefällt, mach neu. |

I read it 1q84 (which I loved). The US/English version was published as one large book, with all three volumes in it. _________________ my unoriginal blog

Maybe I'll pick up all three volumes, and we can focus on volume one for the book club?
I think it would be more interesting to have an in depth discussion over one part, than have a broader discussion over a wider array of material. But then again, I have no idea what this book is about!
Just my thoughts. I'll pick up all three, just in case ;) _________________ (Human sass. Robotic precision.)

| I read all three volumes at once. It didn't feel like three separate books, it just seemed to flow well as one long story. |

So I ordered the book via Amazon, and the estimated date is May 21 :/
So I may or may not be in for this round... should we maybe pick June's book right now too? Just a thought... this is my first book club (AND I AM SUPER EXCITED!) _________________ (Human sass. Robotic precision.)

Okay, why don't we aim for reading the full story (all 3 volumes), but if you want to break it out then that's fine too. It can be a personal preference. The discussion can always continue after May.
Draincosmetics, that stinks that it'll take so long! I hope I can find it lol, I haven't even looked yet. That's a good idea about picking the next month's book early! I'll start a new poll for June on Monday when I'm on a real computer. :) _________________ ps- you're my favourite. We should be friends.--e |

This is awesome! I just got the book for my ipad. I might use it as HGRB's book next month, too, since I think it would be more fun to do a book I'm currently actually reading. _________________ Love my fade, but Glitter is forever. LOOKY, UPDATED BLOG! |

I've started the discussion thread here so whenever you are ready to start reading and talking, head on over! :)
I will get June's voting up sometime today as well. _________________ ps- you're my favourite. We should be friends.--e |
