Depending on which weatherman you listen to, we may get between 6-12" of snow overnight tonight. With that much snow (and ice, and wind), we often lose electricity due to icy powerlines and limbs weighted down, taking powerlines with them. If that happens, I won't be on Glitter much for the beginnings of our International Glitterdate/week ... but I hope y'all will jump in and carry on without me if you need to! _________________ "Struggle is obsolete." -- my friend Barbara |

Eek! I hope you don't lose power! We had huge thunderstorms last night with hail and lightning struck a tree in my dad & stepmom's yard. It rained all night and morning, turned into sleet around one, and snow by the time we were walking to Mom's. it'll all ice over tonight, but luckily I'm off all week! _________________ ps- you're my favourite. I'm guessing there's at least 8 inches of snow in my yard, and still more falling. Luckily, we've kept our electricity, though. Snow emergency declared in ours and several counties around ours -- no driving except for emergency vehicles. I'm gonna make a pot of chili and enjoy the view out my window ... and on the Internetz!
How's everybody else? I heard there were tornadoes down south. I hope all Glitterati are safe, warm, and happy! _________________ "Struggle is obsolete." -- my friend Barbara |

I am jealous. I love love love it when it snows at Christmas time. I think Christmas is totally complete with loads of snow.
It's too cold here to snow. -26C. Boo! _________________ Everyone thinks I do it to make people stare, but really, it's to keep them from looking too closely. |

Too cold for snow? That bites.
If anybody wants to see more photos of my little city, the local newspaper has opened a gallery that you don't need a subscription to see.

We were up in the mountains with my folks for Xmas eve and it snowed about 8". We had to drive down to see the mister's family on Christmas morning. The roads were plowed but I guess it was pretty slick because we had two spin outs, one at a hairpin turn (eeek!! but we recovered) and one at the bottom of the hill that resulted in us getting stuck in the ditch. Luckily 5 min later the guy who plows the neighborhood drove by and pulled us out. No one was hurt, and the car was fine, but it was quite a dramatic start to the day! Still, I was very happy to have a white Christmas. _________________ <3 free range glitter pony <3

And I didn't think to bring out a ruler or a yardstick, but I'm pretty sure we got 10" in my yard today.

Wow!
We got our first big snow here (maybe 4" max) & that means I get to watch all the kids go sledding in the park that's outside my bedroom window. Yay! _________________ "My power doesn't come from other people's lust for my awesome vagina, thanks." - Enzyme

I'm up here in Vermont and we got 18+ inches at my in-law's house. We are loving it and K is too, we've been out sledding everyday. And it's supposed to snow more this weekend!
I'd post a picture but I'm too lazy (on the iPad and it's a pain)...

I'm at my inlaws now and appreciative I'm not at home in Montreal with 45 cm of snow! We got snow in Toronto, but not as much. I'm not particularly looking forward to going home and having to shovel out my alley parking spot. I'd park it on the street while I clean out my spot, but from the looks of what I've seen on the news, there isn't much space on the streets because of snow banks waiting to be cleared (this is the one time of the year when having a big suv is a good thing in the city, you can park on top of the snow banks, unlike those of us with tiny city friendly cars that don't stand a chance). The joys of car ownership! _________________ i live at the foot of a mountain: some of my adventures |

We got home last night and couldn't get into our alley! A nice passerby helped give the car a push to get it unstuck. Then we paid 9$ for the privilege of parking on the (main, pay parking) ploughed street for 3 hours, and got to work! 2 hours later we had carved out enough space to land our car in it's spot, and scrapped a bit of the street/alley transition. D floored it when he turned into the alley, slowed down and slam dunked it into our spot. The car will be staying there for the time being, BMW all the way! (bus-metro-walk) I'll be going out every couple of days to start the car and try to shovel out the area around the car a bit at a time (because the temps are going to be around -20C overnight for the next couple of days).
We couldn't get our back door open, there was so much snow on the back fire escape balcony the sliding doors couldn't slide. Easily above my knees. We ended up shoveling from the outside, because I want to be able to get out in case of an emergency. _________________ i live at the foot of a mountain: some of my adventures |
