Waist length.

First as a child, it was super long because I had white blonde hair, and my mom loved it long. But I couldn't reach the back to brush it, so I used to get rats nests all the time and my grandma got sick of it, so she cut all my hair off one day.
She did a good job, she cut it short kind of like Hayley Mills had her hair, and it looked fine. I didn't care that it was short.

Then in junior high it was was waist length again, but i got tired of it, so I had the same grandma cut it shoulder length for the start of high school. Throughout high school it was kept shoulder length. Then in college, I grew it out, and it was waist length 6 years ago, then I had it chopped to chin length by my best friend, because she was the only person I trusted not to give me weird 80s haircuts/soccer mom haircuts. It turned out super awesome and I loved it.
Plus I learned that I can wear short hair as an adult and it does not make my face look fat.
I have no idea why I was worried about that.
The funniest part to me was how everyone else was freaking out and worried I would regret it and I was just like "it's hair, it grows back."

I grew it out to waist length again in the past 4 years, but I most definitely do not want it any longer than it is. I trim off the raggedy ends every other month. It's course, thick and wavy.

I have to wear it all pulled back and up for work, since I work in a kitchen. My lifesaver is one of those Goody Hair Tool things because it's the only thing that holds it all up and I think it looks nicer than anything I can do myself with hairpins. (I'm really bad at hairstyles, unfortunately.)

I wear it in a ponytail, or down on my days off.

I do need to save up and get an actual nice haircut, but I'm scared to go to salons here because they try to give me really weird 80s bangs, or blowdry my hair which literally takes an hour. I remember when I got my hair done for my friends wedding, the stylist laughed at me when I said I didn't like wearing my hair back because my ears stick out and then gave me this updo I was totally not comfortable in. I have bad hair stylist experiences. =(

The longest has been waist length (four or five times). I've typically let it grow that long, kept it that way for a while, then cut it short (usually a chin-to-shoulder-length "bob") and donated what was cut off. I'm hoping to grow it out for one more donation.

I'm trying to figure out the "best length" for me. I like having my hair long enough to play with and do more than a ponytail, but really long hair gets damaged much more easily.

I work in the exact opposite kind of environment; it's hard to imagine a field more conservative than corporate litigation, unless it's corporate transactional law. (Or maybe banking.) :) Mine isn't a white-shoe firm by any stretch of the imagination, but the law in general and business law in specificity aren't fields that has a lot of leeway for creative dressing/personal presentation.

My hair is right now the longest it's been since high school and before that probably 4th grade. Here's the most recent pic I can find of it...this is from November 2011 and it's now right past my bra hooks. My hair is super straight and quite a bit lighter than that now (no dye at all), but basically, that's me. :)

Here's one of my sis and I probably in 1989-90? I have the strong feeling that I look like DJ Tanner here lol...

I love having long hair again. It's always been in a bob or longer bob, so this is very odd and new for me. In the past few months, it feels like it's gotten even longer but I think that's more a combination of using good shampoo so it feels healthier plus not wearing it in a bun every day lol. I love my long swishy ponytail, even though it gets stuck behind my back and pulls sometimes and gets wrapped around my seatbelt....but I haven't had that in a long time so it's all new! :)
