A coworker's mom is moving to a retirement home and while cleaning out the house my coworker found a lot of 50s, 60's and 70's clothes of her mom's which she wondered if I might have some interest in. My answer? "Yes! Oh my god yes!! Gimme, gimme, gimme!".
So today I got to pick and choose whatever I wanted from this huge garbage bag. I can't wait to get home and try on stuff!! I'm almost giddy with excitement. _________________ the world is yours

| I did a favor for a local non-profit about a month ago. On Monday I opened my mail to find a pair of tickets to a very cool Fiesta party/fundraiser from this group. I've never gone to this event because the tickets are $75 each. And now we have tickets and the kid is going to a sleep over! Need to dig in my closet for something cute to wear now and painting my nails shortly. So excited! |
Is this the event on Tuesday night? I will be there! |
Aww, nope, the event I'm going to is tonight. Hope you have fun, have you been to any Fiesta events before? I've been to lots but don't go to many anymore, just couldn't pass up the free tickets/free drinks/free food/close enough to my house for a cheap cab ride. And it is supposed to be a pretty fun party. |
Not in a long time. An old co-worker of mine always gets tickets to NIOSA because she works on projects in SA and she's invited me before, but I always have something else going on. I'm in my stupid plastic boot this year but am making it happen. _________________ country cookin' makes you good lookin'

| Applied for the most promising-looking job listing I've found; two hours later I got a call to schedule an interview. |

Yesterday, my mom wore the socks I made her for xmas and talked about how much she likes them. She later mentioned that she was bummed no one asked her about them while we were out (they're very colorful).
I'm currently knitting socks for a friend's bachelorette present, and they're coming out pretty cute. I'm enjoying doing them on DPNs, and I just found a cache of them I'd forgotten about. Yay socks! |

Just as I was starting to feel overwhelmed at work (combination of taking on a new job, still doing the old one, and leaving on vacation for a couple of weeks while a bunch of projects are at critical points) and not having been replaced yet (and consequently not having someone to work with me in a team like I had been doing with the person I replaced) and . . . one of the experienced students offered to work with me! Woohoo! I have a helper! And an experienced one at that. And she chose me. I feel so very special. _________________ i live at the foot of a mountain: some of my adventures |

My SIL works at Bloom*ngd*les and I sent her a link to a pair of sandals I want. There's a shoe sale coming up, and with the sale plus her discount I get them for half off! Hooray. She grabbed a pair in my size to wait for the sale! _________________ Etsy!

I made an executive decision yesterday that pissed someone off, at first, a few hours later you could hear the relief in their voice that this was the right thing to do.
My tomato plant is loaded with tomatoes and they are starting to turn red. Plus I have my first zuke!
The second contractor we've contacted about our garage apartment came over yesterday. He was super tired from work but so nice, very open to our ideas AND has lots of experience with old home. Plus he did our neighbor's garage and came highly recommended. Now I need to get cracking on some drawings for him!
More relaxed weekend coming up. My guys are going to be busy Saturday afternoon so either I hang out and de-clutter one armoire or draw for the apartment. Either way I'm not working at the office (I hope) and going to have some quality alone time.
Friday is Battle of Flowers Day (aka Fiesta Friday) and we get 1/2 day off paid! Okay, honestly I might just work if the kid and hubby are busy but still, the extra money and option to leave at noon is good. |

I LEFT MY HOUSE IN A PAIR OF MATCHING SHOES!
I had to yell, I apologize. With the exception of a few trips to the gym in sneakers, I haven't worn a PAIR of shoes in 5 weeks. I'm not totally out of my stupid boot for good yet, nor does it not hurt, but jeez, do real, matching shoes feel good. _________________ country cookin' makes you good lookin'

Yay Caropop, that's great news! :)
Sis & I went swimming (indoor) last night for the first time this year and we enjoyed it sooo much. We don't actually "swim" that much, but just kind of bob along lol, but it was fun. Plus the jacuzzi totally helped my aching knees...they actually don't hurt today at all which is a miracle! _________________ ps- you're my favourite. We should be friends.--e |

I didn't work yesterday, don't work today and have next Monday off as well!!
Now, to make my day even better, I'm going to eat toast slathered with marmalade. Mmmm, citrusy. _________________ Everyone thinks I do it to make people stare, but really, it's to keep them from looking too closely. |

My school was inspected last week, and the inspection team were actually very positive and supportive (emphatically NOT the experience I've had in the past). Despite crying in the staffroom because I was convinced I'd totally ruined everything, I came out well. And now it's the weekend, and we are all under strict instructions not to do any work at all. It is so wonderful to have it over with!
On top of that, I've got some lovely new friends coming over for dinner tonight, and I'm really looking forward to it. |
