Woo, 2012! Woo!

Today's good things:

-I got my first haircut since July, and I feel super cute again.
-I used Christmas money for it, and I used some of the leftovers to buy a bottle of OPI's Rainbow Connection.
-I have twice-baked potatoes in the fridge, ready to go when I am.
-I think I aced a copy editing test for a possibly good job.
-The writing test I submitted for a freelance gig went over so well they want me to interview for a full-time thing, which is so precisely what I was hoping for.
-I'm not too sore from the crazy exercise class I went to yesterday.
-Smallcat is wearing a sweater I sewed for her from a pattern I drafted myself.
-I have freelance work to keep me busy (and paid) for the next couple days.

Things aren't perfect, but today feels pretty good. Your turn!

My boyfriend asked me out on a date this evening by surprising me with flowers downstairs when I woke up. 2012 kicks ass.

The hubs and I have both been waking up a bit earlier than usual. It gives us a bit of "down" time before he goes to work, and the kiddoes typically are still in bed. Because of this he's been picking up around the house (without me suggesting it at all!) and today I got to take a brisk walk around the block before he left. He's been in a really good mood because he gets a chance to read, play a bit of video games, etc.-I'm happy for him because I'm sure it makes going to his cruddy job better.

Our money woes are almost over!

I got to do some thrift shopping this Monday and got some real scores! I haven't been thrifting in months! I got clothing, which I've been in need of, and some new books to read, plus some workbooks for miss Scarlet to grow into. And a new microwave for fifteen dollars! Hubby has been wanting one for months since the old one broke, and I've been dragging my heels since the damn things are pricey.

I made a "resolution" to do more for myself, add so far it's been working out!

I have about 5-6 months left before I will be completely out of debt.

And I just juggled some money around getting ready to pay to move by the end of February and did not have a heart attack.

Having enough money is pretty cool.

A small thing, but nonetheless good:

I bought some AWESOME cords yesterday, at half price. I love them.

I have a 5-year (ish) career plan and I actually feel like I can do it. I'll be challenging myself way outside of my academic comfort zone and I'm mostly feeling excited and motivated rather than overwhelmed. It's going to be a long road but the end result will be so worth it if I stick to it and do well.

My life feels really well-balanced right now and I'm really happy. And thanks to the magic of SSRIs I have beaten my depression back into the dark corner from whence it came.

-I managed to put my hair in a pretty bun this morning all by myself, using a sock like my sis showed me
-The look on my co-worker/friend's face when I said I had a sock in my hair lol
-My shiny, shiny ring I am wearing today that was $1.00
-The big stack of books I bought at Half Price last week and the gc for B&N that I still have waiting for me

I just finished my first book in 2012! I also just got someone to take a huge desk/hutch this weekend. It's a nice piece but really big and I just don't need it. Yay for decluttering! I've purged so much crap lately! Also, I've managed to eat well and do some excercise three days in a row!

I gave in and bought maternity pants this week, and suddenly wearing pants is no longer the worst thing in the world. Regular waistbands no more! Rubber band trick begone! Only comfort now.

I had a family trip to NYC yesterday, and I am sore from all the walking and didn't really eat enough, but my mom bought me a dress I loved, and it was on sale. Hooray!

I've finally (almost) finished my first lace scarf. According to the pattern, it's completed, but I think it's still a little on the short side. I'll probably knit a few more inches today and then start to block it. I learned a new stitch to make this pattern, so I'm proud of myself. After this, I'm tackling socks. I've been scared of knitting socks for AGES, but I think 2012 is going to be my year...

We bought a used hottub yesterday and hooked it up with the help of friends. This morning, I woke up, hacked up a lung and felt terribly sorry for myself with my cold. And then I remembered the hottub! It was SO warm and bubbly and just freaking awesome. 10 mins later, I feel like my cold isn't going to kick my ass all day.

Nothing like a hottub on a cold winter's day!

New evening class tonight! I get to speak to actual humans who are not a) my partner or b) family members! I'm not sure if I can remember how to do interaction with strangers, but hopefully I'll cope ok. Also excited about getting going with jewellery making again, especially since I have almost got my desk/ workbench area sorted out.

Yay have fun town hall!

My good thing is there is a new IMAX at my job and it is about baby elephants and orangutans and I can watch it every day if I choose to. I saw it this morning and it was so, so sweet.

I went ice skating yesterday! For this first time in about 15 years. It was so fun! I went to the place I used to go skating as a kid, and it brought back a lot of fun memories.

And I'm not sore, even though it was quite a workout. So that's good too!

I had a meeting today that I was dreading because it was with a coworker that is incredibly stubborn and hard to work with. But it went reasonably smooth, so I'm feeling good about that.
