I'm headed to the doctor's office shortly for a scary, risky test. Please send vibes that they find nothing at all (which means I have other avenues to investigate which are way less scary) or that they find something very minor that can be easily remedied, say, with not-excessively expensive medicine.

Hopefully, I'll be back online later today with good news, but I'd appreciate knowing Glittervibes are working for me for the next couple hours or so.

Thanks for the vibes, everyone. It felt damned good knowing that I could post a last-minute note and get loving response right when I was feeling scared. Thank you all for coming through for me.

I'm back from my test -- it was a cardiac stress test -- and the doc did not find anything scary, which is good, I guess. Then, as I walked out to my car, I checked my email, which included a promotion of a new TED Talk that says, basically, "Umm, yes, those tests work for men but not very well for most women. More women than men are dying of heart disease now, and heart disease kills more women now than all cancers combined. Furthermore, oftentimes, a woman's first obvious occasion of heart disease kills her on the spot." (Yes, I'm paraphrasing. You can watch it yourself and tell me if I got it wrong.)

Okay then.

I'm gonna go do some (more) deep breathing and relaxation exercises, start walking the stairs at work, visit my chiropractor to see if maybe I've got back issues that are causing my discomfort (as a friend whose mother had the same symptoms and that diagnosis suggested), and try to just chill out. Or maybe I'll see if I can get connected with someone in the local med school to see if I can get in on a study or something of the new cardiac MRI technology that that TED speaker was talking about.

*sigh* Sorry if this is TMI for everyone. Maybe I'll come back later and delete the personal details.

ETA before I even pressed "submit" ... my regular doc's office called, and now I have a followup appointment to discuss other possibilities in a couple weeks. Hopefully I'll learn something somehow or another that brings some relief and clarity.

Sorry, loosey! Sounds very nervous-making, and I hope it turns out to be simple and easily resolved. Vibes!!!
IDK if you find "i know somebody..." stories helpful or not, so feel free to ignore:
My mom had some scary chest pain stuff about 15 years ago (in her early 50's or late 40's?). After a couple months of scariness, it turned out to somehow have come from adult onset asthma. Maybe completely irrelevant, but the result was pretty positive, and things like that help me keep my mind open to positive outcomes in other circumstances.

Thanks, dance. Yes, at this point, I do appreciate alternate possibilities. I'll be having my doc look at lung stuff, too, when I see her next.

Sorry Loosey, hope it all works out.

My ma was diagnosed with angina and it wound up being her gallbladder...
