Hey, it seems like a while since we've had one of these? Would anyone like to do another?

I've managed to clock up 120 km on my bike over January. Which means I would like to hit at least 150km next month... but I realise that it's much easier to rack up big distances on a bike than on foot/swimming. And in the past we've normally done these over 2-3 months I think?

So I was thinking we could set it at a personal challenge level - some people might want to do their goal over say 90 days, others try to hit that figure each month for 3 months.

It's nearly the end of January, so I'm thinking Feb - April. So who's with me?

Im in! Yesterday was so warm and springlike that I went for a walk and only came back because my dog was dragging his butt. I considered dropping him off at home and continuing but I had to make dinner. Its easy to walk when its lovely outside, but most days is cold and I could use a challenge as motivation.

I think 100 miles in 3 months is just a bit over 1 mile a day, I could do that!

How do you measure how long you've travelled?

I use endomondo.com - they have a free phone app as well, or you can go onto the site and manually map your route.

There are other similar apps around too, but I haven't used the others.

I use sparkpeople. I already have my usual routes mapped.

Life would be so much easier if SP would add a tracker into their app!

Well, I have a race (just a 5k, but still) coming up at the end of March and if I stick with my training plan I'll hit 100 miles sometime before then so, yes, I'm in! It'll help me to stay on track, for sure.

Yay! I'm glad I've got company. I got off to a good start this morning 11.75 km on the way in to work, (I parked around 1/2 way in) and I'm about to bike back to the car now - and then we're off to the beach for a swim!

I forgot that it is the Sevens Rugby tournament this weekend though, so I am NOT looking forward to having to make my way through that crowd to get out of town. :(

Started off the month with a 4 mile run, so I'm on track so far! I even tackled a big (for me) hill!

Rock on PurpleDoor!

Since the projected high temp for today is below 20 degrees, I'm going to wait out this cold snap and focus on yoga/spinning (which doesn't really track mileage). That way I can be strong to meet my mileage goal when the weather decides to cooperate!

I havent decided if Im going to count gym mileage. I would like to add 100 miles on to what Im already doing, plus who knows how accurate the eliptical machine is on mileage.

Luckily I have a faithful 4 legged walking buddy

I biked to work again yesterday, and I was supposed to bike half-way back again, meeting MrVep on the way and getting a lift the rest of the way. There were 60 km/h gusts, so I was really looking forward to that meet-up point. Then just as I reached the off-ramp (the bike path is beside the high-way) who should come down in but MrVep, on his way to drop Mr SlipperyShade back home - over 15 km away from our meet-up point). He'd totally lost track of time, so was surprised to see me so close to where he was supposed to pick me up.

Long story short, I made it the full way home (and I even managed to bike some of the way up my killer hill at the end - 50+ m rise over about 400m), bringing my total thus far to 62.25km.

Today is a rest day!
