What are your favorite education blogs/news sources? I need good links to add to my work's Facebook page.
I'm particularly interested in pro-teacher, pro-reform (as in, empowering teachers to educate, not just push tests) ... although quirky blogs would be great, too.
I get emails from EdWeek and ASCD, and sometimes I'll repost from Huffington Post (a friend of mine writes a regular column there on Black Colleges and other racial/higher ed issues). And we get zero responses (although an occasional share). We don't have many followers, and I don't know if they're not Facebook regulars/posters, if they're bored by these things, if they already see them, or what.
So I'm hoping you can point me towards some more variety of sources.

Not sure if these are what you want, but ...
The Chronicle of Higher Education
http://chronicle.com/section/Home/5
Inside Higher Ed
http://www.insidehighered.com/
Way more political than those two (but AWESOME!) is Truthout. I mainly include that here because Henry Giroux, who is a big-time lefty theorist of all things educational and pedagogical, is a board member and contributing writer.

I'm my fav education news source...jk, jk.
As an education reporter, I am constantly looking at other news sources and trying to find new ones, so I'll keep my eye on this thread.
I read HuffPost Education nearly every day, but I also find some really inspirational teacher/student stories in the New York Times. They have their own education section on their website.
Every so often, I'll read Gotham Schools, but my districts are in such a rural area (I'm in upstate NY) that it's not terribly relevant to what I'm doing. _________________ You were right about the stars; each one is a setting sun.

I was going to suggest the 2 that Sporadicus posted...but my friend works for mStoner and the blog there has a lot of higher ed related news (http://www.mstoner.com/blog/). _________________ With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. |
