Glitter, it's close to the date my visa runs out (less than 3 weeks) and nearly the expected date by which my renewal should have been processed (last time it took about 48 hours - this time, not so much). I've been to the office and they're just like "have fun waiting, lulz!"
I did ok in an informal interview today for a full time job and they want me to come back for a formal one the week of the 27th. If this job works out, all my current problems would be more or less solved (well, we haven't invented instant & cheap travel yet, so I'll still be homesickish but it'll be easier to manage with funds to visit home once in a while). But the job can't work out unless the visa does.
Please. Please. I need this to work out, I need to stay here with my husband and make a real go at having a life here. Vibes that this comes through, like, yesterday so I can quit worrying about it and start living again? _________________ You can't be giving up sandwiches in the name of style. |

Eek! I hope the visa comes through - and I really want you to get that job too!
I'm thinking as postively as I can that it is all going to pan out nice and quickly, and we'll be opening that bottle of bubbly we've got in the wine cupboard (I think it's yours!) on Sunday to celebrate! |

I called again today and was pretty much told to hurry up and wait. It got assigned a caseworker on the 24th or something so I still have until the end of this week (so...half today and tomorrow) until the "official" expected waiting period is over. But you can look at the stats on the website and see that in April their rate fell...was 83% in Feb, 80% Mar, and down to 76% in April of applications that are turned around in 25 days or less. Not comforting.
In the mean time I'm booking my refundable flight this weekend just in case it doesn't end up coming through. I technically have 2 more weeks, and there is theoretically a system in place to spot me a temporary visa while I wait out on my other...temporary visa...augh. It makes my head hurt.
I can't get my brain together until this all works out. I'm scared. :( And I'm poor. We really cannot afford this. _________________ You can't be giving up sandwiches in the name of style. |

| Vibes! And deep breaths, it sounds like because you're being proactive you still have some time to work this out. |

I got it! The same day hubs finally got sick of waiting and called instead of me, hmmm...suspicious that things seem to work faster for a local. 10 days before my visa was set to expire, too. Ugh.
Still waiting on the job, though some temp work has come up in the mean time so at least I can take that if this doesn't work. Things are looking up! _________________ You can't be giving up sandwiches in the name of style. |
