Plain back Banana Republic T shirt.
Silk slip + one in leopard print (polyester maybe?)- I like to wear them to sleep in.
Vintage aprons- but can't show them yet as they are surprise gifts!
The newish goodwill in Seattle in the U district has tons of good stuff, including office wear. If I needed more office clothes I would spend a lot more time there looking for just the right skirt! _________________ Midnightsky Fibers- great knitting patterns!

| I got a super cute red and white sundress from the swap shop (our apartment complex's free thrift store) last week. It has a small stain in the front but I am pretty sure I can get it out. I also got a pair of pinstripe pants but I haven't decided if I like them or if they actually make me look fat yet.... |

I got a freaking sweet pair of Ksubi/Tsubi skinny leg jeans, for $7!!! I could not believe it. They are awesome too, really dark blue and super skinny - they have zippers on the ankles, and you can't put them on without undoing the ankle zippers first. They have really funky little white crosses on the bum. They look like they have never been worn.
Here they are:

The price is $269, and I got them for seven freakin dollars!!!
Seriously, coolest op shop find ever. (I think it was a Salvos or Anglicare) _________________ Post reviewed by the Ministry of Truth |

The thrift store in the suburb I live in is *closing*. I'm shocked. I would have thought discount and thrift stores would be thriving these days. I don't really know *why* it's closing though... Just thought it was weird... and I'm bummed because I usually run through it every other week or so being that it's super convenient and on my way to other things.
I scored a pair of Levis there for $2 that I wear ALL THE TIME. |

Yesterday I found a stack of aurora borealis 1950s rhinestone bracelets at an estate sale. They were asking $50 for the lot but I didn't like the colors on some of them and certainly didn't want to spend that much so I asked the lady if I could just buy a few instead. She said sure and sold me three for $10, yay!

These were finds from earlier this summer. The oodles of starburst style rhinestone pins came from a church tag sale and were between 25 cents and two dollars each. One of the blue haired ladies gave me the owl for free cause it was missing the chain. Score!
The rest of the stuff in the photo came from a cheapie flea market that is now defunct which is too bad cause I loved that place! But anyway.... the locket is actually the bottom piece of a Coro pin. It's missing a few stones but I can replace those eventually and plan to add a jump ring so it can be a necklace. It opens up and has space for four pictures. Someone attached images of the four seasons of the year inside. The vintage aqua rhinestone shoe clips are so awesome! One of my favorite finds ever and a steal at just $3. And the bracelet is my new favorite piece -- it's copper and has a series of glass intaglios and stones in settings. Needs a little restoration but well worth the $5 I paid for it.

I have not been thrifting in a while.
I did go to a clothing swap a few weeks ago and got some decent basics like black dress pants, sweaters, hoodie. Not any single bragworthy item but a decent haul for a bunch of simple plain items.
When I go thrifting, sometimes I like to imagine why the former owner discarded something. I like those stories at clothing swaps, you get to hear all the "I really liked the shoes but they hurt my toes" or "my ex gave this to me so I want to get rid of it", etc. I find it interesting! _________________ Many that live deserve death. Some stores here that sell vintage or thrift stuff are having a hard time because people are selling their used clothes, not getting rid of as much stuff, and people are not buying as much stuff (that they then don't wear and donate), plus stores don't have as much inventory so they do not have as much stuff to give or sell really cheap to used stores.
I am on a search still for the perfect pencil or fishtail skirt. So far no luck, since I want a wool one that isn't super high waisted... _________________ Midnightsky Fibers- great knitting patterns!

I've had such a dry spell lately! I haven't found anything good in a long time. On occasion something will catch my eye, but it's either overpriced or a duplicate of something I already have.
One of my favorite shops closed last year. I found out that the owner of the property wanted to triple their rent, which they could not afford. Maybe your local shop is having the same thing happen to them, smokingmonkey. |

PurpleDoor, your apartment building has a free thrift store? that's awesome! how did that come about?
I have really been missing small town thrift stores since moving to NY. But I did nab a couple things at the Really Really Free Market yesterday. And from a trash pile on my street.. I found a ton of high-heeled boots that I took to the RRFM. |

It's a St. Vincent's store, or possibly Salvation Army, which doubles the bummer because it's a charity shop, not a "higher end" vintage type store.
The place is always packed with stuff, and second hand stores get so much inventory that the tons of overflow is sent to other countries.
It makes sense though, if people are keeping things instead of buying new. |
