I bought two little bags of these bite sized Chunks of Energy last Friday when I went to the organic market. They were so tasty I looked up the recipe and its really easy.
1 c honey
1 c peanut butter
1 c carob powder
1 c sesame seeds
1 c sunflower seeds
Heat honey until warm, add peantu butter slowly, until just mixable.
Stir in remaining ingredients and press into oiled 8 X 8 pan.
Chill 1 hour. Cut into 25 small squares. Keep in the fridge for up to one month, freeze indefinitely.
These weren't refrigerated when I got them. I bought chocolate and honey almond so I know they're totally customizable.
I'm finally going to start making my own little energy bars! _________________ "You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should." Ehrmann |

ive had these from the co-op and i agree they are really good. they have a few different ones, honey almond, spirulina, i cant remember what else. but be careful, they give you energy because they have a lot of calories! i entered that recipe into nutritiondata.com and it came out to 197 calories per piece (if you cut the recipe into 25 pieces). _________________ candy to carrots |

Chunks of energy
You can make them at home and save a little money, but you have to buy over 10 ingredients and store for a while till you make the next batch.. Also the calories you quoted were incorrect. If you check the web site: www.danstarco.com you will find that 2 Chunks contain only 130 calories per serving for the carob spirulina that is only 65 calories per chunk and the Vanilla Almond flavor likewise contains only 65 calories per chunk or 130 calories per serving. wow, that is peculiar. does the company just troll the internet search engines for comments on their products?
i agree, go away "DayDreamer".
not to be rude, but you obviously know nothing about this forum. some of us would rather make our own versions of packaged foods even if we have to find 10 ingredients to make the first batch. and alot of us have those things sitting around the house anyway.
ETA: good luck with your product...i am being sincere when i say that even if the above sounded rude. i just didn't like the way you 'infiltrated' this post. _________________ There were doves everywhere, and they were crying their asses off. |
