I found Glitter by chance through Google. I was looking for information on a pattern for a blanket I wanted to crochet and there was a thread on Glitter about it. I explored a little more to find the most friendly, supportive forum I'd ever seen on the internet! I lurked for a few months before signing up too. _________________ Too much cheesecake too soon. |

| I used to hang out on the Bust boards- never go there now!- and they had a 'She's Crafty' thread that mentioned getcrafty.com, which used to be glitter's 'old' home. I headed over there and then when the supernaturale offshoot happened and took glitter with it I followed- I still very occasionally go over to the getcrafty forums but not much. |
My story reads pretty much the same.
Except it started with a first date over 4.5 years ago when I was asked what I liked to look at on the internet and I said "zappos" and "target.com" and that sort of thing. My internet experience was very "commercial." The cute guy (who i am marrying in a few months!) looked at lots of groovy stuff like boing boing and read blogs. He pointed me in the direction of the indie in the internet. He said that he wondered if there was a community out there for me. so my search began at bust's website and from there i found my home at getcrafty and now glitter! _________________ I know it's not real, but lunchboxes

Way, way back in the day, when I was 16 or so, I joined old glitter.
I think I found it through ChickClick or NotMartha, but I don't remember...
And it's about 7 years (hot damn!), a few different usernames, and a good long hiatus later...
What can I say? I heart my glitter. _________________ We are the ones we have been waiting for.

I'm not really sure... I was on the OG. according to that I signed up with this username AFTER I graduated from college in 2001, but I swear I remember discussing getcrafty with a college friend during our senior year. I dunno if she gave me the link or if we found it independently, though. Either way it's been a long time! _________________ Stopped prior to getting enough, despite urging to the contrary by Michael Jackson. |

I followed a link to the pillowcase skirt on OG*, but I don't remember where from, or when. I used to have a little post with my old join date and post count it on my monitor at home, but it's been lost for ages. _________________ We are none of us alone

I googled something (t shirt underwear? I'm really not sure) and it led me to getcrafty, I posted on OG...as "IHeartGeekyBoys" in my early early teens, but just on the crafting board, and followed glitter over to SN. And here I am! _________________ I have an etsy shop now!

I was looking for ways to alter t-shirts and stumbled across a Glitter link. I delurked almost immediately. I wish I could say I was a veteran of Old Glitter though. You guys are too cool. *pout* _________________ You can't be giving up sandwiches in the name of style. |

A friend of mine used to work for the company that runs Supernaturale, and he was one of the designers for this site. When he was working on it he had me check it out to make sure it worked in Safari, so I saw Glitter (well, Supernaturale) before it went live.
But I never actually checked out the site once it went up, until I moved to the Bay Area and was jobless and bored. I was complaining about it to him and he suggested I come here and find something to do. :) I posted asking for crafts I could do on a budget and with zero crafty talent whatsoever, and I just stayed after that!
I used to go to getcrafty, too, but not the boards. _________________ float like a floatbot, sting like an automatic stinging machine! |

| When I lived in New York, I had an acquaintance that was tight with Jean from GetCrafty. She recommended the site, and that was back in 2000 for me. Then I followed Glitter to Supernaturale. |

| I found the old getcrafty through a search for something...can't remember what...and then followed the forums right over when Supernaturale came about. |

Man, I guess we should send Bust a fruit basket or something.
I found Get Crafty through the Girl Wide Web, too, and initially just read the articles until my friend pointed me in the direction of the OG boards (I'd never posted to a message board before, and it hadn't even occurred to me to be curious about that link!). And now it's this terrible addiction... I feel like I don't post very much (I'm pretty sure half of my post count has come from wishing people a happy birthday and stuff), but I'm here pretty much every day and I love this place. _________________ If you don't fight you lose. |
