Is the new search engine broken? Because SURELY we've got posts related to kale on here already, right? I have the sense that I've gotten some kale recipes already here at Glitter, but I'm headed to the kitchen to actually *cook* some and don't have time to scroll past this first page of Foodcraft.
So ... I'm becoming a fan of kale, although traditionally I've preferred tenderer greens. But I'm getting to know this new cookbook author and he just emailed me with the opportunity to download a cookbook with 50 great kale recipes - for free, today - and thought I'd share the link with y'all (with his encouragement and permission, obvs).
It's a takeoff on Fifty Shades.... Kinda silly/fun, but the recipes definitely look good.

I like to use kale in soups, especially if the soup called for spinach :) I find that spinach tends to get a little slimy in soup, but kale is heartier and stays nice longer!
Excited to check out the recipes! :) _________________ With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. |

I really really love making Caesar salad with kale.
I also just really love kale in general and add it to everything where I might once have used spinach - one winter my FB profile photo was me holding a big bunch of kale like a bouquet of flowers. _________________ "My power doesn't come from other people's lust for my awesome vagina, thanks." - Enzyme

The quintessential Dutch winter dish is kale steamed on top of potatoes (potatoes & water in bottom of pot, chopped curly kale on top), then mashed together. Served with smoked sausage, mustard, sometimes slab bacon, usually gravy, and picalilly/preserved pearl onions/pickles on the side. _________________ The plural of anecdote is not data.

Just remembered -- we enjoyed it on pizza this summer :) We always parbake our crust, then put toppings on it and stick it back in the oven to melt the cheese/heat the toppings. I'd put the kale on last (I think I sprayed some olive oil spray on it at least one of the times) and it would shrink down and get kinda crispy. Yum! _________________ With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. |

I made some delicious kale the other day. I roasted up cubed butternut squash and a few cloves of garlic. When that's done, I pop the garlic out of it's papery skin and sauté for a few seconds in olive oil. Saute washed and chopped kale in the pan until it reduces, then add in the butternut squash. Braise in balsamic vinaigrette (I made my own with with balsamic vinegar, mustard, herbs, salt, pepper and olive oil) for a few minutes until the kale is totally wilted.
It's even better the next day! _________________ You were right about the stars; each one is a setting sun.

I LOVE kale! For a treat, I like kale chips, but they are a bit of work relative to what you get at the end.
I like to mix some sauteed kale in with oatmeal for a veggie-rich breakfast. I also toss it into soups (kale and white bean soup, mmmmm). And of course, there are always KALE SMOOTHIES! So awesome. |
