The most common recipe I keep seeing on the soapdish is a variation on the ratio of 1:1:1
1 part beeswax
1 part butters
1 part oils
and then whatever you like to flavour it.
but I am finding that with this time of year and all, that it is a bit too much beeswax (a bit too hard for me here in canada)....so the last batch I made I did about 3/4 part of the beeswax.
I made chocolate mint...inspired by some I got in a swap on craftster (sorry, can't remember who made it)
so...I melted about 3/4 oz of beeswax almost all the way..then I threw in an ounce of cocoa butter...when that was melted, I added an ounce of olive oil and a few drops of peppermint essential oil.
and seeing you probably use the metric system a bit more religiously than I do....30g butter, 30ml oil and 22g (or so)beeswax.
and yes...pretendingsanity's lip balm is simply amazing...use her recipe...and definitely her directions. _________________ “When one tugs at a single thing in nature, one finds it attached to the rest of the world.”

I ordered my stuff online....seeing as I live in nowheresville, canada..... perhaps a European Glitterati will come along and enlighten us. Do you have any stores that specialize in soapmaking supplies? I don't think the stuff was all that expensive..(and I don't know if you guys have Michaels over "there"...but if you do, they are hideously expensive, and only to be bought from as a last resort).
ya...not so helpful, I know. _________________ “When one tugs at a single thing in nature, one finds it attached to the rest of the world.”

I have a lip balm question I thought I'd just post here...
I have a couple of tubes that have melted and then cooled while laying on their sides. They are pretty much useless as is.
Can I somehow re-melt and reset them? How would I do this?? Can I just pop it in the microwave? Double boiler (will it fill up with water this way?)
Thanks. |

You should be able to buy eveything at at health food store (if they have those in England!) if not, it's easy to find online. I really like magestic mountain sage.
Kari, just pop then in the microwave. Do it for as little time as possible to melt the chapstick. ETA: probably just a few seconds. _________________ Shop Tangle online!
