Hi all!
I'm planning to go to India in the beginning of January (hopefully) I'll be gone from 2 weeks to 3 months depending on what I can do there.. I'd love to stay as long as possible, but I'd like to go there in some kind of context; I have a hard time seeing me going by myself for a long time without any real structure to it all.
So, do you have any experiences from India? Know anyone there that I could visit for a couple of days before I move on to doing something else? Know any volontary work to do there? Know about any organisations? Etc.
Anything special to see there, and to do?
Etc. Anything and everything you can come up with! :) There must be glitterati that have some experience?

| w00t! I'm jealous, but I don't have any advice as I've never been. Have fun and take amazing pictures. All I can think of are the burning ghats, but I don't even know where on the Ganges they are. |

Läs och res has volunteer travel as well as regular trips.
idealist.org lists A LOT of volunteer opportunities, but of course you will have to check for yourself that the local organisations are legit.
You could try posting at MyTellus too.
As for staying with locals (if you're interested in that), there's always Women Welcome Women World Wide but I don't know how many members there are in India. |

Oh no fair! I was in India last January through March and honestly had the time of my life. The culture, food, people, land is so amazingly beautiful. I really, really want to go back, and hopefully am to teach English next year.
I stayed mainly in the state of Goa, which has the most beautiful beaches that I have ever been to. It is a little more touristy than the rest of India, so it is easy to find English speakers, and talking it up with the other tourists there was awesome too. PM, I love love love talking about India, so if you have any questions, ask, maybe I have somewhat of an answer! _________________ Read Girl Wanders & Indulgences |
