i just scored an egg poacher pan, complete with all its cups and a lid, for $4.99 at a thrift store, which raises the vital question....
how do i poach an egg in it? i know that some water goes in the bottom and that the eggs go in the cups, but for how long do i cook them? how hot does the water have to be? am i supposed to put vinegar in the water, as the woman at the thrift store suggested? what do i do?
xo,

If a poached egg is an egg like boiled in water (out of it's shell) then yes, you need to put vinegar in the water.
I don't know why, but you do. Otherwise the egg doesn't "stay together." |

to poach eggs...you put the poacher in a pan of boiling water in which the water is slightly below the level of the poacher cups
put a little bit of butter in the cups *or pre-spray with cooking spray*
then crack and egg into each cup and put the lid on
then the "doneness" is a matter of preference...i poke mine with a fork to see if the yokes are runny and the whites firm
I hope this helps ya! |
