Is there somewhere we can see this? I live near a couple of old acequias and find the whole thing fascinating.

It will be at some point in the future. I don't know when and I can't share it until then (or at least not until our client has signed off on everything for the last time), but I'll let you know when it's available. It's a historical study of one of the irrigation systems down in the Valley--there's a basic relation to the acquias, but these are slightly different.

Today when the Crumblette and I were walking home from school, it started to rain on us. We didn't have an umbrella but at first it didn't matter because it was just a little bit of rain. Then all of a sudden it was a LOT of rain, and we were both completely drenched in minutes. We were laughing (we play in the rain a lot) and not at all distressed by it, but two different people stopped their cars in the middle of the street, rolled down their windows, and offered us a ride to wherever we were going. Then, when we got into our apartment complex, someone from the office must have seen us walking past because he came running out with an umbrella for us. It was a lovely little reminder that there are nice folks in the world, and I was really happy that it happened in front of the Crumblette.

Then, when we made it into the apartment and got out of our wet clothes, we had warm milk with honey and spices in it while we snuggled on the couch, and then we dumped my whole button box out on the floor and did a craft project.

That whole post just made me smile! She's so lucky to have a mom like you. That's awesome.

President Obama is in Austin this afternoon, giving a speech at the LGBT Leadership Council, about a half-mile from my office. And I got to watch the motorcade go by! It was seriously awesome. My boss and I stood in his office, looking out the window, for like 35 minutes. It was so cool!!

And when Mr. Obama is finished giving his speech, he's going to a private party at the Four Seasons...about 200 feet from where I'm sitting. I'm such a nerd, it actually gives me a little thrill that he's so close to me.

(Ok, it's a sizeable thrill. I'm SUCH a nerd.)

I've been working on a couple of projects at work that involve going up five or six stories worth of scaffolding about once a week. A few weeks ago I was really shaky going up, and today I noticed a difference! I still always hold onto something stable, and I know I really don't like the sections where the boards flex, but overall I'm getting over my uneasiness and getting on with things. It feels really good to recognize a fear, and deal with it.

I FINALLY listed all my cosmetics and stuff that I have and never use that is still good, on my blog, and it's selling!
I'm finally getting to rehome this stuff and make some money back too and it's really awesome.

I still need to work on not bringing in stuff to my house/buying stuff. But it feels good to actively have a sale to get rid of it all instead of just donating it all to the thrift store and getting nothing monetary in return back.

I'm going to use the money to help pay off my debt, which should be payed off next month. Stoked about that too!

It's nuts to me that people want my stuff! But I'm happy.

I saw The Dark Knight Rises with my dad today & it made me very happy. I cried! I gasped! I cheered! I got really excited about something & involuntarily elbowed my dad in the arm!

(I'm a huge Batman fangirl, in case that wasn't evident.)

I took a "mental health" day off work yesterday. I meant to do awesome cleaning of the house, much neglected lately, and get some naps or reading in. Instead my friend came over and we chatted for a couple of hours. Some housework did get done, not everything but lots, and I got a nap in too. Realized that the stress lately was making me feel ill, and contributing to a lingering cold, feeling much better today.

I divided and re-potted my houseplants this afternoon (they were all reproducing like craaaazy) and made a "Free Plants!" stand in front of my house. I was able to put most of them in funky thrifted pots, not just boring plastic ones. Just as I was setting them up, some folks came by who were SUPER excited to take the biggest aloe plant.

Going to check out a gym tomorrow! I think this will be a big stress reliever and help me shed the 10 lbs that is making me uncomfortable. Taking the whole family so we will all get the tour of the facilities. MrC said " just sign up, don't think about the money" and he wants to go too, we both need more exercise.

I'm getting a new bike! I'm really excited. Apart from the colour of the paint, it's exactly what I want for getting to work and general cycling about town. I'm gonna look into getting it refinished, and if that works out, it'll be perfect! Also, because it's a 2010 model (brand new old stock), it was about 30% cheaper than this year's model, which is virtually identical but not quite as good. Apart from the paint on the new one is much prettier, but looks aren't everything. 9-minute commute, here I come!

I bought a car on Wednesday, because my craigslist car died on me the week before. I bought this car because it was in my budget, but not exactly the car I wanted. It is turning out to be pretty amazing, though. It's got every bell and whistle available and it probably the nicest, most comfortable car I've ever owned! Also, I paid cash for it and don't have a payment!

That is awesome! I bought a new (used) car recently and had a similar experience. For it's age (and price), I got so much more than I expected, and paid cash as well. I'm going to need to put some cash into it in the coming few months (I've decided ac is worth fixing!), but as an all purpose driving around car? It's great!

(it's also my first car ever, and I've only been licensed to drive alone for a few months now, so driving a not so new car that actually belongs to me (us) is a huge confidence boost)

Related to the above, my good thing is that on Friday night I drove myself on a drive that I've never done alone, through crazy downtown traffic and fast highway and bridge driving, and I did it like a champ! And my friend got to have some husband and baby free time and I got to pick her up at home and drive her around! When we were in highschool she was the one who drove me around, so it feels good to return the favour.
