Some more info on the new Anne! It is going to be a period piece, but will look more in-depth at character development and background. I'm pretty excited by this. Having grown up on PEI, its history is really interesting, and I'd like to see it showcased in this way. The Island is a truly beautiful place, that pays close attention to living history. It is easy to feel like you've stepped back in time when you explore it...reading the Anne books in the evenings in the kitchen, waiting to close the real Green Gables is one of my most wonderful memories. The house is like a warm hug. I hope this project will bring more people to it. _________________ http://montgomeryfibrearts.wordpress.com/ |

| Yeah, I took a walk down by the river yesterday on a clay road, and besides the noise from the nearby traffic, I felt like it could have been any time in history. Even when I walk around c-town, I try to pick out which house could have been Aunt Josephine's. |

I am so happy about this thread!
I will take all the Anne I can get.
I own the boxed set of books, so I can read it over and over again.
shortskirt, do you sell your shirts!
I need one! _________________ I know it's not real, but lunchboxes

melmont, thanks for the additional information. a part of me would have loved to see anne smash that ipad over gilbert's head, but this sounds even better! i am all for going more in depth into characters. hopefully they'll keep to the timeline a little better this time as well. also also! your line about the house being like a warm hug is kind of how i feel about the series itself. i was trying to explain to my dude about why it resonates so much to me and i think it's this combination of a good storyline with good characters [especially female characters!], plus memories of watching it with my mom and her telling me about how my late grandmother loved it too. you can't separate one from the other, but that totally makes it.
and i've yet to find a decent version of it with english subtitles, but has anyone watched the japanese version made in the 1980's by hayao miyazaki and isao takahata? they used to have actual clips up on youtube, but i could only find the opening song. so pretty!

| I watched the show a lot & if I could find it all I would totally re-watch it. I remember I went to some kind of "behind the scenes" thing as a kid where some of the cast was there & they had some of the sets & whatever. You had to pay to get Sarah Polley's autograph tho which crushed my six year old heart a bit. Capitalism! |
oh sarah polley. remember when she was in that one horror movie [i believe it was the dawn of the dead remake]? every time a commercial came on for it, i'd just think, oh story girl, you don't fight zombies. aunt hetty is probably super worried about you right now! _________________ yeah it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
