I like the UD liquid liner, but it took a while before I managed to get it on the way I want it. You can SLEEP in that stuff and it won't go anywhere... _________________ The plural of anecdote is not data.

| Bumping! Does anyone use BB cream? I am thinking about trying the MAC version, but was wondering if anyone had an experience with it. |

I haven't tried the MAC BB Cream, just the Garnier one and the Estee Lauder.
The Garnier is super cheap for a huge bottle of it. But the color is dark if you're light skin toned like me. I have to mix it with my moisturizer to make it more pale. But it brings a nice glow to my face and puts some color into my face, while evening out it all. I still use concealer on top though because it does not cover blemishes or dark circles.
The finish on it is a bit too dewey for my tastes though. It ends up making my face look really shiny, so I have to go over it with a little bit of powder to tone it down. This one is scented really heavily like floral stuff.
The Estee' Lauder one is really nice. But the Light skintone on that one is yellow toned. I have warm toned skin. But it helps cancel out redness and it almost is like foundation for me. I still use concealer with it as well. It's much more matte than the Garnier version, but it is strongly scented like cucumber melon. I personally love the scent, but some might not.
The Garnier one is more like a bronzer cream to me. I like both products but they are vastly different.
I'm curious what the mac one is like! _________________ old user, new name & profile. |

I am super pale-- I always need the palest version of foundation in Estee Lauder or Clinique, so it sounds like the garnier one might not work for me. I guess I'll have to actually go try it on at the Mac store. I was hoping it would make me looking glowing-- like I'd just had a facial! |

If anyone wants a bottle of G a r n i e r BB Skin R e n e w in light/medium, pm me (US only, though, it's harder to get anything liquid through customs). It's not yellow enough for my skin tone, and it also makes my skin itch (most makeup does). I just bought it today; it was on sale and I had a coupon, so I figured it would be worth a try, and I used a tiny dollop. It's a tube that you squeeze, so I haven't had my fingers in it or anything. _________________ "I hate that they're giving tea a bad name. Tea is a peaceful, gentle drink." - Teahugger |

I have the Garnier BB cream and I have the same problem with it being too dark for my light skin. I get the unfortunate mask-effect. Otherwise I really like it...I like the texture and how it feels and the way it makes my skin look. _________________ beefy and confused. |

I have NW15/warm ivory skin, so I wear the palest shaded of everything too.
I really really wish they would make a larger range of colors for the Garnier one! I'm sure the dark one isn't dark enough for everyone either, so they should expand both ends of the spectrum to makeup for that.
It's wearable if I mix it with white sunblock, so maybe try that if you are super pale too. But it sucks that the color range is so limited!
I must have a weird skintone of ivory/pale skin though. Are most people with this pale of skin cool toned? I feel like almost all the ivory makeup is really yellow based instead of the pink color that I need!
The MAC line is pretty much the only one that actually matches my skintone. Otherwise I have to use bare minerals, but I look REALLY pale with that stuff on, or just use concealer where I need it and that's all.
I didn't even know I was warm toned until I tried the MAC makeup.
Just knowing what undertone I have really makes life a lot easier! _________________ old user, new name & profile. |

I do! I use Dr. Brandt. Ot's awesome.
Bear in mind that the Garnier & L'oreal ones aren't really BB creams - they're more like tinted moisturizers. _________________ The plural of anecdote is not data.

My problem is that most makeup is too orange for my skintone, and if it has the right yellow/olive undertone, it's too dark (I'm a really pale olive).
Edited to add: re ^^, it seems that a lot of makeup companies would do well to offer a wider colour selection, though on the flipside that would mean more they would have to make more colours, have some go unsold, etc etc. _________________ i live at the foot of a mountain: some of my adventures

Actually, pink is "cool" and yellow is "warm". According to the Bobbi Brown make-up artist I did a workshop with, foundation w/a yellow undertone flatters all skin tones, not just warm ones. But then she also said that a foundation should totally blend into your own skin (thus eliminating the need to plaster you're entire face + neck in it) - you'd think you'd need to match undertones for that to happen? I was confused, but she explained that if you use foundation only to spot-correct an uneven complexion, a yellow tone balances out redness in the face, whereas a pink tone can actually make redness more noticeable. That's why BB only has a range of yellow-toned foundations.
Yes. Yes. I won a Bobbi Brown workshop, and yes, they turned me into a clone. When I start referring to her as "Bobbi" you may kill me. (That's what the MUA at the workshop did: "well, BOBBI thinks that every woman can look good with black eye liner. That's why BOBBI developed a range of eye liner products to work with any skin type!" OH HI "BOBBI", GAG ME WITH A SPOON!) _________________ The plural of anecdote is not data.

Has anyone ever used any Josie Maran products? I am in love with Argan oil and so is she, but her stuff is a bit pricey. But if it is as amazing as I think it could be, I am willing to invest. Anyone tried it before? _________________ She believed she could, so she did. |

I tried the tinted moisturizer. It felt nice, but I was super shiny an hour later and it didn't match my skin color well. I'd go to S e p h o r a or a counter in a department store where you can try some on and see what you think before you buy. _________________ "I hate that they're giving tea a bad name. Hmm. For me, the yellow doesn't do anything to hide ruddiness for me though. It just makes me have this odd cast to my skintone.
The Mac foundation that's NW15, which matches my skintone, is the pink based one, and it covers up redness?
Their NC15, which is the cool toned one, has a yellow base to it, which doesn't match my skintone. I tried them both on at the counter, that's why I was surprised to learn I had a warm skintone.
So it sounds like the Bobbi Brown makeup is opposite of MAC or something. The problem is, most of that stuff is brand specific, and not generalized enough. _________________ old user, new name & profile. |

| Are there lipstains that don't taste bad? The only one I've used is Benetint, and while I like the color, it tastes awful, and the situations where I want lip color that can withstand a lot of wear-and-tear are usually also situations where the way my lips taste matters, if y'know what I mean. |
