I posted about this in the blowout thread, but I think it got fairly buried in there. Since someone else has asked me about it, I wanted to bring it back up with everyone.
If you don't already know, there is a glitter facebook group. It was created ages ago, and a lot of people joined, though it has never been an active group. Other than people sharing their real names and glitter names to find each other and become friends on facebook, only one other post was made. That was by a member who needed a more private place than glitter is to discuss an issue in her personal life.
At the moment, there are only two members of the group. Facebook, at some point, changed something about the groups and the result of that change was that everyone got removed except the admins (which are me and JackieRocket). I think possibly, if you'd gone to the group's page at some point before the switchover you might have seen a notification that you had to choose to stay in the group when it switched formats, but since no one uses the group, no one saw it. I didn't even get a separate notification as an admin. All of the posts that were previously made there still exist. It's just a ghost town.
Since it came back up as part of the last brouhaha, one person requested that I remove a post that she made linking her real name to her glitter name for personal reasons. I have had two people ask me about joining, but haven't taken any actions on that because they would then be the only two members other than the admins. I also made the group secret--that means that only members (which again, right now is just me and JR) can see anything about it and in order to become a member, you must have admin approval.
So my question to you all is, do we keep the facebook group or not?

I wouldn't mind *a* facebook group. I'd kind of prefer to have a fresh, new one, though, if old posts are still around. Kind of a new beginning, if that makes sense? _________________ We are the ones we have been waiting for.

| I vote no (also, if we do keep it going, please delete any posts I may have made, if possible). The group was a fun idea, but I was really NOT impressed with someone making the decision to create a spreadsheet linking real and g* names, and then post it publicly in another FB thread. I realize a lot of us are friends on FB and that eliminating the group is no guarantee that something like that won't happen again, but overall I just don't see the need to make it any easier. |

I vote no also, because I'd like the real G* to keep going strong the way it has the last few weeks and have more interaction here than on FB. _________________ ps- you're my favourite. We should be friends.--e |

You made a comment on the one discussion thread, and I deleted that, but I can't see that you ever posted with your glitter name.
I do want to clarify, in case there is any confusion from the rest of purpledoor's post--the whole spreadsheet thing did not happen on the facebook group. Facebook had kicked everyone off before then, though obviously, many people were connected to their real names through posting (voluntarily) in the group and friending people through their accounts. _________________ country cookin' makes you good lookin'

Old posts can all be deleted. That's another option if people want to keep the group. _________________ country cookin' makes you good lookin'

Cool, thanks :)
And yes, I should have been clearer--the spreadsheet I was referring to wasn't posted in the group and it wasn't like someone just directly pulled info from the group (since that info would not have been available). I guess my point was more, given that it has happened once, I am somewhat wary of creating a central group where that info would be readily available for someone to misuse if drama flared up. |

Yeah, that would be good. I could work with that *if* g* as a whole wanted a fb group.
I wouldn't mind a fb group, just because fb is so common; if I have that open on my laptop, nobody notices. The bright chartreusey-yellow background for g* is super conspicuous, so not particularly "quick, subtle break from working without drawing much attention" friendly, KWIM? _________________ We are the ones we have been waiting for.

If it lives on, I'd like my username/real name post deleted please.
I feel much more strongly reattached to the real G* since I removed most of my FB connections, and feel like it was a really positive thing to do. |

| I voted "no"because, honestly, I had forgotten about the fb group. I would rather not have any facebook friends know about g* |

Nah. If I posted revealing my real name I'd like that removed, too. I like having separate circles, and as entrenched as it still is for many people I'm not sure how long FB is for this world anyway. I'd be happy to see it disappear. _________________ You can't be giving up sandwiches in the name of style. |

I agree. I want to keep g*, and I think that starting a fb group could pull people away from our wonderful community here... _________________ be happy for this moment. this moment is your life. |

I don't really care... I think I'm friends with most people, and not opposed to being friends with more G*.
I am of the opinion that if you're on FB, you should be protective of your own FB policies. I didn't entirely agree with the list that came about of current drama that came down to linking G* user names with real ones, but to be fair, it wasn't entirely off-base since the thread lead to real names being mentioned.
I don't know how that list was composed, but it didn't matter much to be me because I do not post anything on the internet, under any username, that I would care if any random ever found out about.
This is more of an issue of posting private information on the internet than having a G* FB group, IMHO. _________________ (Human sass. Robotic precision.)

I voted no. I don't mind being fb friends with people from here, but as others have said, I'd rather keep glitter going than move the conversation to the 'book. (I didn't see the original facebook thread where this 'master list' was posted, so I don't even know who did it, but UGH to that.) _________________ kittens are cute, but a full-grown cat can be cuter

Ditto. I don't care if a G* facebook group exists, but I wouldn't join it. _________________ "I tried watching downton abby. mistake. switched to ru paul's drag race." - Lacey Marie |
