Time for another one of these threads! What's your latest crafting disaster? Can be inadvertent self-injury, a project gone horribly wrong, whatever.
My latest is sewing related. I was doing some sewing with heavy canvas and the project was going just swimmingly until the very last edge had to be turned under. I managed to break THREE heavy duty machine needles in the space of about 6 inches. when one of the needles broke it went flying and grazed my cheek in its trajectory. Oops. I did finally manage to get the edge done, mostly by going paaaaaainfully slowly and even sometimes operating the machine by turning the side knob rather than using the foot pedal.
I'm also planning a huge colorwork knitting project right now and I'm afraid it's going to turn into a crafting disaster if it is anything less than perfect. Yargh. _________________ Studio Marlowe knitting patterns: 15% off with code "yellowboards" |

I haven't any crafts lately, so no opportunity for disaster (unless you count my gross fro-yo), but I always wear goggles when I sew. Srsly! _________________ Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for." -Bob Marley

Oh boy have I been there! The standard "heavy" needles you can get are 90/14, but you can get much heavier. I have some 16s and 18s for really heavy work. Also, if you have a speed control slide on your machine, you apparently get more power for heavy work by having it set low.
I somehow got the seam allowance wrong on 2 out of a batch of 20 something notebook covers I made last week, and couldn't fit the notebooks into them. And they were the cool boys' fabrics ones. |

I think I might have posted about this when it happened, but I sliced my finger on my rotary cutter recently when I was working on my t-shirt quilt. Wow those things are sharp. There was lots of blood and it took 2 weeks to heal! _________________ <3 free range glitter pony <3

During making my quilt this autumn, I accidentally sewed myself in the finger. Ouch! It really, really hurt for a long time. And I'm looking into wearing goggles. Needles flying are somewhat scary! _________________ Oh gravity, thou art a heartless bitch |

| I think my worst was one night making a bunch of hula hoops when I was hanging out with some fire spinners. I was trying to shave a piece off the connector to make the hoop with a pvc cutter, and as I looked at how I was holding the cutter and the piece I thought, "hmm, this might not be good" and then the cutter slipped and stabbed the fleshy part of my hand at the base of my thumb. I needed 7 stitches. |

This is always when it goes wrong for me!
In other news, I tried to sew yesterday. One can put it this way "the end result did not really fit". One could also put it as "what the hell was I thinking, these trousers are like 7 inches too short on the top". Oh well, good thing I have extra fabric :) _________________ Oh gravity, thou art a heartless bitch |
