For us it's generally 2x or so a week, give or take depending on the week/time of year/whatever is going on, generally once for lunch and once for dinner. We have a lot of good local restaurants around, but at the same time even inexpensive meals out add up. We try to balance supporting our local restaurants with keeping within our budget. Plus during the summer/fall months we have a csa, so it's always a race to finish off the produce. I will occasionally buy a muffin as a snack, and he will occasionally buy a breakfast sandwich when he's running late or extra hungry. I have free coffee at work, so I very very rarely buy coffee out, unless we're running around town and want to have a nice cup somewhere to relax between errands.
As the end of the CSA nears, and there is work going on on a major street nearby, we are going to try eating out a little more often on that stretch under construction as a way of supporting our local businesses during the work (it's pretty extensive and keeping people away from the area). _________________ i live at the foot of a mountain: some of my adventures |

We eat out pretty rarely. Maybe once every few months - usually it's only for special occasions, family get-togethers, holidays, etc. Mostly it's a cost thing - we are pretty frugal and it's just cheaper to eat at home for the most part.
I don't eat out for lunch ever because I work downtown in the touristy section and pretty much everything is either overpriced or just not good (mall food).

Since MrC eats out for lunch nearly every day, their office doesn't have a decent lounge/kitchen area, he prefers to eat every other meal at home. LittleC and I eat out maybe twice a week when we have after school things going on. On the weekends we get breakfast tacos one morning.
I prefer to eat at home because it is probably healthier for me. I like to eat out because sometimes having someone else cook and clean is entirely worth it!
Before MrC got this regular job we ate out maybe once a week for dinner, less when we were/are feeling particularly frugal. |

I very much prefer my own cooking over eating out, but I haven't been good at getting groceries lately. So we've been eating out way too often. And it's really gross. I did cook last night, and I would cook tonight but we have a bunch of stuff to do, so we'll get something quick. The roommate/house guest is gone, so I think it's going to be much easier to plan and shop now. _________________ Eh, f*ck it

I've been so bad about eating out for lunch (like every day at the sammich place across the street), because I have a hard time getting up/ready in the morning and it takes so long to wash all the CSA stuff for a nice salad (which is my lunch of choice). Honestly I'm mad at myself about it because we have this CSA and we're not getting thru it every week. And when I eat out I am 10x more likely to eat gluten, which I am theoretically trying to avoid (but doing a crap job at).
Obsessing about food/eating perfectly is/has been a super big problem for me in the past though and so I am trying to chill about it a bit for now. Even though its making me chubby. _________________ <3 free range glitter pony <3

| I've been eating out a lot the past few months. I was dealing with a pest problem, which (shocker) was a total cooking deterrent! I didn't buy anything I couldn't just microwave. Now I'm staying with my sister, but she lives pretty far outside city limits so if I'm working nights at my second job, I have to just grab something quick. I can't wait to move into my new place next weekend so I can buy non-frozen food that won't make my clothes too tight.... |

With my food intolerance I have a hard time eating out. I think there are only a few places I trust (pho, sushi, and places I watch them make the food like subway). I love to try new foods but I only really ever trust food I cook myself. We usually eat out 2 times a month, and its almost always pho or sushi. My husband would love to eat out alot more, but he eats lunch with his co-workers alot so he gets his fix.
I love and value homecooked food and I enjoy doing it so Im lucky in that way since eating out is not really an option for me. |

Whoosh. I've had fast food/restaurant food several times this week and I feel pretty awful right now. Last night we had salad at home. Tonight we had a $21.60 pizza from here. Its locally legendary despite the craptastic website. I'll admit it was pretty good, but damn, $21.60? I was going to be passing right by it, so I brought some home to other half. Anyhow, the salt and fat etc is killing me right now. I'm definitely sticking to smoothies and salad for awhile. _________________ Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for." -Bob Marley

Also guilty. Takeout is just too easy at the end of a long day. _________________ "To find yourself you need the greatest possible freedom to drift." Francis Bacon |
