Per Jackierocket's suggestion, here's a new RAK list for 2010. If you are adding to this list, please email me your physical address to arbeguiling (at) gmail (dot) com

...............................................
Folks, PLEASE include the word/acronym "RAK" somewhere in your post in this thread. Then, when the thread is 3900 pages long and someone is looking for *your* entry on it, they can do a search with your username and RAK, and find you!

.......................................................

In an effort to know better who is still interested in playing along, or who would like to, please post a wishlist of stuff that you like...feel free to include your birthday, amazon wishlist, whatever. Include your musical tastes if you like. Please try to keep all your stuff in your one post, so all your info is in one spot, and if you decide you no longer wish to play, let me know so I am not still giving out your address...same goes with if you move....let me know.

and a reminder, this is a no strings attached thing...all you get is good karma and some crap outta the house.

For the newcomers to the thread, and a gentle reminder to everyone else - please thank whomever should send you something in the separate thank you thread, or via pm. As we all like to send crap out, we all like to be thanked for it.

I'll jump in first, as I'm sending a bunch out in the next few days. (not that I expect anything back, but don't want this thread to die - I have a lot of make up RAK to do)

I like to RAK:
Pink, red and black.

I knit, sew and embroider. I paint a lot. Usually on scrap wood. And glue stuff to it.

I'll listen to any music, but love rockabilly, X, Madonna, and early punk rock like The Clash, Ramones, and Blondie. Would LOVE to be introduced to newer stuff. I'm also obsessed with the Minneapolis music scene from the 80's and 90's.

I have a Sharpie pen fetish.

my birthday is the 27th of april!

Animal: green dinosaurs!!!11! (see my signature)
Season: months with r's in.
Color: black. gray. pink. silver.
Craft/Hobby: knitting, i'm trying to learn how to spin. i own a one-inch button maker (and also a 2 1/4 inch one that i got from enzyme!) and am always looking for source material for button-making - old magazines or books to tear apart, etc.
Movie: shortbus and where the wild things are address similar issues for me in different ways.
Metropolitan City: seattle holds my heart. i also have dreams of moving to amsterdam.
TV Show: rupaul's drag race
Era: i like old school burlesque. not most of the rest of those times, but the burlesque parts. trying to put together a radical burlesque troupe in my town.
Music Artist: hmmm. bishop allen, nana grizol, kimya dawson, the magnetic fields, the mountain goats, etc.
Book: spiral bound
Food: pizza. yes, i am bart simpson.
Sport/Game: uh, roller derby, but i'm not as obsessive as i used to be.
Day of the Year: i like those days when it's school break and i've finally turned in all of my (late) work.

also things: i'm a vegetarian (but not vegan) and can't really do scented things. i have blythe dolls who have been sadly neglected lately. i'm all about my garden, learning how to be a grown-up, and... other things. like being friends with my body. i'm the sweetest fat poly femme genderqueer kid you'll ever meet.

I MADE YOU A STICKY BUT THEN I EATD IT

CEILING CAT IS WATCHING YOU RAK

***

Oh yeah, a wishlist.

* I like yarn (prefer natural fibers but am not picky) and anything knitting-related, such as stitch markers.

* I'm learning to sew (kind of) and would love sewing notions of any kind. Ribbon, buttons, useful stuff, whatever. Also fabric (scraps or larger pieces) or helpful hints for sewing. Heh.

* Eyes for stuffed animals - especially safety eyes. I can't find any here.

* Most edible things - spice mixes, strange local specialties etc. (I'm trying to stay away from candy though, but small amounts are OK) I love chocolate-covered anything (except coffee beans - hate coffee) and plain or lightly flavoured black or green teas. I don't think there are any customs restrictions on these things.

* A postcard or letter from you, anything at all in my mailbox would make my day!

My birthday is 12 April, I work with digital heritage and currently have no partner(s), pets or children. Here are my Etsy favourites and my Swap-bot page.

I'll RAK if you do, in my RAKing chair.

I guess I'll play along this time. Fair warning- I have OCD, so I'm weird about some things. I'll put "safe" things on my list, but I would really NOT be okay with food items, anything to do with chemicals or car stuff, plants, and insects. Basically if it's something you could get sick and die from, no matter how safe it should be, I kind of freak out.

But on to the positive things:

My favorite colors are green, grey, and brown. I also like black and white, and sometimes purple, blue, or turquoise mixed in odd combinations with my favorites. I dislike pastels and neon colors, especially pink and orange.

I like hedgehogs, owls, mushrooms, gnomes, and imaginary animals you create. Moths and whales have a bit of a special place in my heart, too.

Spirals are awesome, and so are vintage-looking geometric patterns, like overlapping different size dots and rounded rectangles- like atomic ranch decorations.

I'm a fairly nature-oriented person, I like photos of trees and nature, especially black and white. Postcards are super-cool.

I love patchouli scented things, and things that smell earthy or green. I don't like very floral or spicy scents, and cinnamon, clove, and gardenia give me major headaches.

The best things I could get would be random postcards, small pieces of art, or little stuffed animals you make. I guess anything palm-sized or smaller, something I can stick in my little inspirational corner. I would really like to add to my silver charm collection, too, so if you find a little cheap charm that represents something about you or where you're from and think of me I'd love to have it.

Oh, and I also have an odd thing for witch related things, like cauldrons, broomsticks, and cats- but only old-fashioned kind of stuff, like witch-hunt day type stuff.

New RAK for 2010!

My hobbies include: writing/reading zines, printmaking, knitting, hand-sewing, embroidery, and vegan baking. My birthday is February 11th. I love autumn things; that applies to scents, treats, colors, and holidays. I prefer dark/deep colors. My husband and I live in a historic carriage house. I like recycled and re-purposed stuff - useful things that are also unique.

I'm vegan. I prefer to support companies that are environmentally conscious and that do not test on animals or use animal ingredients. I like to stay away from eating refined sugar, hydrogenated oils and artificial food dyes as much as possible.

Scents I like: mango, patchouli, cinnamon, ginger peach, green tea, vanilla, plum, pineapple, pear, mint...

Scents I don't like: gardenia, licorice, strong florals.

General likes:
mail art
ATCs
vintage Halloween stuff
bats! (the mammal)
zines - esp. personal zines
black/white/gray patterned things
striped things
found notes/letters - esp. handwritten or weird
iron-on embroidery patterns
children's books written in german
vegan cookbooks
unusual envelopes/stationary
old Nancy Drew hardcover books*
(* i collect the unrevised ones, with 25 chapters instead of 20)
yarn - natural fibers only, please
patches or pins
old-school tattoo designs
Day of the Dead
very tiny vintage buttons
handmade papers, to use for collage/printmaking

ETA: I know this is very specific, but the colors I wear are generally only: black, gray, dark purple, and indigo. I sometimes spring for a little bit of red. Never anything pastel!

I have a list of etsy favorites - see my signature. I usually order the zines I add to it fairly quickly, so no need to RAK those to me.

Birthday: November 2nd

Favourites -
Animal: dinosaurs (raptor and t-rex, to be specific)
Season: Autumn
Color: red, pink, black
Craft/Hobby: I love paper crafts. I make my own cards all the time, and I like to collage and decoupage and whatnot. I also like to sew, but my machine is dead :( I also think I will try making lip balm next!
Movie: I love funny movies, sad movies, and anything post-apocalyptic or with zombies.
Metropolitan City: Toronto, and NYC. I actually went on two vacation trips to NYC this summer.
TV Show: Almost anything on Showtime (Weeds, Dexter) or HBO (Big Love, True Blood, Sex and the City) and Criminal Minds
Music Artist: Tragically Hip/Gord Downie, anything that's currently popular (I'm always trying to figure out what's "cool"), ladies like Sarah McLachlan and Sarah Harmer, and really anything.
Book: I read a lot of Douglas Coupland, Ethan Hawke, Nicholas Sparks, Jodi Piccoult, Margaret Atwood
Food: Chocolate, especially if mint is involved.
Sport/Game: Soccer/football, I guess? or hockey when the Montreal Canadiens are involved.

I'm going to be lazy and post my likes/dislikes post from the Snowflake Swap thread...hope that's ok! :] My birthday is September 18.

Things you like: Kitties, and animals in general, fairies, GREEN, mermaids and sea colors, earth tones, autumn, hiking, camping, nature, pictures, Frida, art nouveau, exploring bookstores, glitter, vegan and raw foods cooking, red or jadite green/cherry/1950's kitchen stuff, candles, octopuses, Alice in Wonderland, vintage bottles and jars, gardening, earth-based or Eastern spirituality and philosophy, goddesses, pro-legalization, anatomy (esp. girlie bits), midwives, hippies/1960's history and culture, astrology (Virgo), feminist readings, movies in general, tattoos, tea/coffee, and wearing pretend flowers in my hair. I'm a massage therapist/energy worker.

Crafts you do:
Knitting, jewelry/beading, sewing, drawing, collage, mixed media

Crafts you would like to try:
Mosaics, resin-y things, crochet, pottery, photography, and also, playing guitar...I have one, it just sits there all lonely :/

What kinds of accessories would you use and appreciate? If you'd enjoy clothing, what are your sizes? I love dangly and spiral earrings! Anything silver-y or earthy/beaded is great when it comes to jewelry. I LOVE socks – especially knitted ones! Wrist or leg warmers, hats, scarves – I live in the Pacific Northwest, it gets chilly. Aprons! I'm tall (5'9”) but pretty slender – I wear a women's 6-8, M on tops.

Do you have pets or children that you'd like to tell your swapper about? I have a kitty named Dharma Jane and my partner has a pug named Simon. They're our babies :]

What items you would enjoy getting: Knitted things, vegan things, fairies, original artwork, anything kitchen-oriented – I'm not super picky, I love mail and surprises :]

Things you don't like: Hello Kitty, Twilight, pink or peach, shells, strong perfume or cologne.

Crafts you have no interest in trying: Scrapbooking

Allergies and Food Preferences: I'm vegan and also sugar/flour-free. Cruelty-free and organic stuff is always great.

Optional additional questions

Favorite motifs: Polka dots, bees, day of the dead, mandalas, anything vintage-y

What if any holidays do you celebrate? Please share some of your likes/dislikes related to holiday. For example, do you stick to a decorating color scheme? I love Halloween and Christmas and decorate for both. There's no rigid theme – sparkley skulls can go right next to the black roses :] Christmas has more of a vintage, solstice-y focus in our home. I like vintage Santas and unusual décor.

What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday? Yard “sailing” with fancy coffee followed by creative time and picture taking, then a movie marathon over a delicious home cooked meal, like vegan tacos!

Do you collect anything?
Yarn/knitting stuff, fairies, books, LPs, sea glass, vintage bottles

What are five things you use or do daily? Lip balm, coffee, cook at home, meditate, journal

What countries do you enjoy or would you like to visit?
Visited India and loved it, would like to see Germany (my heritage), and AMSTERDAM.

If you were on a deserted island, what are the three items you'd want to have with you? Knitting needles, a library, an espresso machine

Who are your role models, dead or alive?
Awesome feminist women

I'm jumpin' on the RAK bandwagon:)

Crafts I do:
knitting, some embroidery, spinning,

Crafts I want to learn:
I'd love to crochet, but I'm a lefty and can't quite grasp it.

Things I love:
Colors: Red, black, green, blue Not big on pink or pastels..or brown.
Music: Rockabilly and punk, some alternative-ish. I also love french opera..
yarn of any kind-- except novelty yarn, can't handle that stuff.
Books books books. I'll read just about anything once. I have a collection of vintage pattern books. as well as comics. anything written by rick spears is golden!I also have a growing collection of knitting needles. (only bamboo) metal ones make my hands go numb.
Buttons, I looove buttons
Brooches, shawl pins, and hats are great! I have stretched ears they are 3/4 inch. so no "regular" earrings please.

Any handmade items are super great, doesn't really matter what. I like seeing other peoples creativity.

Things that I do not like:
really heavy scents- they give me migraines. I am allergic to cinnamon like you would not believe.

More about me:
I'm 28. My birthday is feb.11. My daughter is Lily she's 9 months old and sooo awesome. She already loves to get a ball of yarn! I live in a really small town on my 40 acre "farm" with a butt ton of dogs, four llamas, and cat. I'd love to start an indoor container garden, with my back the way it is I can't take care of my outdoor one.

ETA: I'm fairly heavily tattooed, so I do enjoy old school tattoo inspired things. I like new skool stuff though too.

I need a 1 inch button maker
