I had a kinda sorta productive week.

I baked a supreme chocolate fudge cake for grandma's birthday

I also wrapped her gifts so nicely I kinda didn't wanted her to open them. Also made the card with heart-shaped stamps.

Bought really inexpensive feathers and chickens and made this Easter wreath. I'm not sure it's kitchy enough though...

I've also been really good with updating my blog, which is one of my 30 days challenges this month. I try to take intresting pictures and write funny stuff. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm working on it. Also, the great plan was that the blogging would spark my creativity and that part really worked. Wohoo!

So, what did you make this week?

You were super productive! That cake looks SO good & the giftwrapping job is killer. Lucky grandma ;)

I had a productive week as well. Some new pieces that I'm really excited about:
rustic key earrings ( I have a bazillion ways I want to work with these):

taper necklace:

divinity earrings:

and my new favorites, the petite upul earrings. I'm loving the solid-piece designs lately:

We rescued this hutch last year and cleaned layers and layers of grime from it. Although that alone was a huge improvement, it was still kind of ugly. I finally got around to fixing it up this week. It had these boring wooden knobs that were kind of loose, so I found some orange glass ones from India at the craft store and put those on instead.

(Sorry, that first photo is blurry for some reason.)

Then, I taped off the back wall and painted it a pale yellow/orange. I used the leftover paint from our kitchen, which is adjacent to the dining room where the hutch is.

I also touched up the white painted design on the doors that was in pretty poor condition. It was challenging to mix an off-white to correctly match what was already there, but the difference is not too noticeable.

The knobs were 50% off - I paid $12 for the set. That's the only thing I had to pay for to do this project, since the hutch itself was free and I had the other supplies already.

Neat! I have some more pieces that are not pictured, but I think the ones shown make the best arrangement. I started collecting the pattern when I worked in a thrift store in 2004. I've limited myself to in-person thrifting for acquiring more pieces, which makes it a challenge. I totally agree with your blog post - it's fun to have something to keep an eye out for. I'm way jealous of your butter dish! ;-)

sarahelizabeth & scaredsi11y

Who makes that pattern? I have a sugar bowl and creamer I found in a salvation army last year that have the same shape. They're yellow instead of blue and have a wheat design on them. I'm wondering if they'er the same manufacturer.

Back in January I signed up to enter something in the Schmancy Olympic Challenge (the entry date was later pushed back to March 16). I was assigned to the Bobsleigh event. I mostly just wanted to make something silly, so this is TEAM LINUS - Linus being one of my cats - and it is piloted by a two hamster team!

GO TEAM LINUS!

klaradetroit your wreath reminds me of my mom's giant collection of kitschy holiday decorations!

My very first comic convention booth.

Highly educational experience. And, I think, the beginning of very good things. I met some really cool people and got to give cards about my own project to people I've admired for a while. Everyone was so nice and so helpful. I'm going to sleep for a week, but I'll go to bed pleased tonight.

I also completed a couple projects for the show. I finished a zine, The Accidental Cat Lady.

And I finished the first issue of a (projected) four-issue series. I wrote a couple of blog posts that include the cover and an excerpt.

It has been a busy couple of weeks. I'll be putting both of these on Etsy tomorrow. Tonight? I play with the cat til he's sick of me, because he's been alone a lot for the last two days.

klaradetroit, I want to eat that cake. eva666, love the divinity and taper. And weezil, that plush set is too funny. The embroidered face on the bobsleigh is too much in the best way.

It's Taylor, Smith, & Taylor. Our pattern is called Boutonniere.

Is this the one you have?

I got obsessed there for a little while. One antique shop here has the pitcher (!!!) but NO LID. It makes me so sad when I see it.

I'm not really a crafter, buuuut I did do something this week! I bought this awesome 70s dress in a thrift store about a year and a half ago and it has hung in my closet ever since. I didn't know how to wear a maxi dress, and the pattern is so big I felt like I was drowning in flowers. Still, this is the kind of thing I can't leave in the thrift store. I hemmed it tonight and I like it way more! I can wear it to teach in now, since it's really covering, as long as I wear a cardigan.
