I thought about posting this on bookselves's skin care thread, but I didn't want to hijack.
My skin is pretty good overall, even, smooth - I get occasional blemishes, but keep them under control with cleansing and lifestyle. However. I have HORRIBLE dark under-eye circles. They've always been there, making me look tired and exhausted and stressed out, even when I'm not.
I'm very fair-skinned, and I'm prone to anemia, although I take a multivitamin every day and eat fairly healthy. I'm pretty good at getting my 5/day, although I suppose I could step it up with the leafy greens. I drink tons of water. I'm not sure what more I could do nutritionally or lifestyle-wise to improve the issue, although I'd be glad to hear any ideas!
I used Benefit's Eyecon cream for a while, but I stopped because it didn't seem too effective, and it kind of burned. Does anybody have a recommendation for an inexpensive, tried and true eye cream that will take away the zombie look?
Thanks, G*!
ETA: I should probably mention that on average, I get 7-8 hours of sleep per night, although that's often with the help of sleep aids - I haven't slept well since moving across the country. However, these dark circles were here even when I was home in California, sleepin' like a baby. |

Hey Gigi. I saw a dermatologist about my severe dark circles. They literally look like someone took a sharpie and drew lines under my eyes. She basically said that the skin there is just thin, and there's nothing you can do to shrink the capillaries or to make the skin thicker. I get on average 8-10 hours of sleep a night, eat healthy, all that, and it's very severe.
I've heard one fix is to get more vitamin K (in a topical cream/gel) but I didn't see ANY results with that. I just wear concealer. =/ _________________ "I don't want to be the kind of person who relates to the world by having a problem with it."

I'm afraid that an eye cream isn't going to be the answer. If you can't link it back to your lifestyle/eating habits, sometimes it is just one of those things you are stuck with.
It's not cheap, but if you want to (appear to) get rid of them, you can not beat Touche Eclat by YSL, it is a real miracle worker! _________________ Friends say it's nothing, but would would they know? The minute she walks in the room, she's the star of the show. |

I don't really expect to be able to get rid of them for good, I was just wondering if there was some secret, magic drugstore brand eye cream that Glitter knew about that would make them look better without so much concealer.
I did hear about this one cream that is supposed to thicken the skin under there, but it's like 80 bucks a pop and takes months to work.
Upping my leafy greens would help me get more vitamin K, but I'm skeptical there. The body synthesizes some vitamin K on its own, although I guess more spinach never hurt anyone. :)
Thanks for the input, gals! |
