in short: if i were going to give you free things, what would you want?

i run a volunteer based coalition. we do outreach in a few ways:

at general volunteer recruitment events
at specific events where people are thinking about doing what we do
at trainings, to adults who are doing what we do
at recognition events, to adults who are doing what we do
and at recognition events, to kids.

i'm buying outreach materials, in a "buy lots of things and have them customized" way. it goes a lot against a lot of my sensibilities, but... this isn't actually my money. i'm focusing on purchasing things that will actually be useful, rather than just throw-away stuff (except for the balloons. because they're balloons).

right now i'm buying Pencils Pens Notepads Post-its Bags and Balloons with our logos on them ...i wanted lunch bags but ultimately the tote-bags will be applicable to more situations.

we have about four hundred more dollars to spend. that's about two more items, depending on the price (the above is 1600ish). i'm really wanting to focus on outreach to the kids, but it needs to be something that adults in their lives will see - i was thinking maybe rulers, but i don't know. i want it to be fun too.

any ideas?

We did bubble clocks at one of my old jobs. They were so cute, and had suction cups on them so you could stick them on a wall, or the mirror, etc.

Here's an example.

Chocolate always seemed to go down well, but the packaging doesn't exactly sit around reminding people of your existence. Maybe tins of mints?

As a former recipient of so much useless marketing crap I always appreciated useful things so thank you for thinking smart!

I always enjoyed loved receiving those things that hold pictures or notes. - similar to this or this. They come in all different shapes and sizes so with a more specific search I'm sure you could find one that applies to what you are promoting.

At my old job we had color change pencils for the kids and they always went over well. I also love rulers and think they are a helpful giveaway.
