|
|
Is there such a thing as modern shelf liner? I’ve been looking for nifty, modern adhesive shelf liner and I can’t find it. At first I thought I would head down to Target and get Orla Kiely shelf paper. In my mind it exists! But not in reality. As far as I can tell, shelf liner hasn’t been redesigned since the 80’s? I’ve seen ivy, roses and mauve plaid. Do you know of any websites that sell stylish shelf paper? _________________ My etsy shop

| This is a dumb question but...why do people line their shelves? I don't get it. The only shelf paper I've ever seen is old and peeling and just looks disgusting from crumbs and spills. What is it used for? |

I think shelf liner is meant to make cabinets easier to clean. Honestly, the only reason I want it is because the closet already has shelf liner with a cute 1960’s design of buildings. It is so adorable when you open the door! But sadly the previous owner’s kid took a felt pen to it. I guess now that washable paint is available there isn’t much need for them. I was planning on painting the inside of the closet a color to complement the shelves. Maybe I’ll try putting fabric down instead. It’s a linen closet so I am not worried about crumbs.
Am I seriously obsessing over a closet now? I am _________________ My etsy shop

How about trying some wrapping paper instead? or looking for some vintage wallpaper or wallpaper that is on sale.
It's durable and washable/resistant. _________________ I'm repetitive, I repeat myself..... |

When I was about 12 I knocked over a bottle of vegetable oil backwards into the spice cabinet, and it soaked down into the wood. So I could see why someone might want to line some of their shelves.
Also, my cabinets in my old apartment were not anything I would want my plates and other food-related items touching. They just looked nasty. The contact paper probably didn't do anything, but at least I didn't have to look at them. _________________ Don't forget to be awesome.

In my old house the kitchen shelves were all old and rough and gross, so we lined them. We actually got some really cute linter from k mart. It was white with lil blue and green polka dots (I think it was martha stewart). And it was sort of semi-adhesive. It stuck pretty well to the shelves, didn't shift around or anything. Bit it could easily be pulled off without damaging the shelves. And it was nice and heavy duty so it never got torn up. It was so much easier to clean than plain rough wood. And we spill a lot, in cabinets and outside of them, so that was a big plus for me. _________________ Someone in this world is an authority on the topic of whether mice can or cannot put on two-tone shoes, derby hats, pinstriped shirts, and Dacron pants, and pass as humans - P.K.
