No Pudge brownies! (It's a mix.) They are fat-free (110 calories per serving) and soooo good. Instead of eggs and oil you use fat-free vanilla yogurt. On the side of the box there is a recipe for a one-serving "brownie" you can make in the microwave if you don't want to bake the whole thing. To make a super-fudgy No Pudge brownie, use the whole container of yogurt instead of just 3/4 cup as the directions say (I think a whole container is about 1 cup). I am obsessed with No Pudge, they are amazing. _________________ float like a floatbot, sting like an automatic stinging machine! |

Rice porridge sounds like it would be heartier than my lazy girl rice pudding snack. I'll have to try that method of making rice though. |

Growing up (dirt poor), we had "rice & raisins" a lot, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner occasionally. Verrry similar to VioletKarma's rice pudding.
Cook rice.
At the very end of the rice cooking, add a handful of raisins, so they are just in there long enough that they plump up.
Serve hot in a bowl with cold milk (or soy/rice milk) like cereal, sprinkle cinnamon and/or sugar on top. Yummy! I haven't had that for ages... _________________ http://revisedfortodayslifestyles.blogspot.com/ |

discovered a yummy, satisfying dessert last night...
took some berries - blue, black, straw - put in saucepan with some lemon zest, grated ginger, some suger and let it all get warm and the juices a-flowing for about 10-12 mins then in the fridge..
Couple of hours later, I took it out and spooned it over one of those little one person sponge cakes for a very low cal dessert!
it's called berry ginger compote, courtesy of Everyday Food mag. like 150 calories.... |

so this new woman at work just told me about this and i haven't tried it but she says it is amazing...
take reduced fat chips ahoy, dip cookies in milk, and line a baking dish with them. add a layer of reduced fat coolwhip, another layer of cookies dipped in milk, and another layer of cool whip and cookies...drizzle with chocolate syrup and put in fridge. (actually i am not sure if it is 2 or three layers of cookies but i like the idea of the cookies on top)
she used to be a weught watchers counselor and she says that this is only like 1 or maybe 2 points for a big serving |

I'm moving this back to the food board because I'm looking for some healthy desserts. Right now my favorite healthy desserts are mango ice cream (aka a thick smoothie in a bowl), sliced strawberries macerated with a bit of sugar and reduced balsamic vinegar, and frozen grapes.
I'm not fond of artificial sweeteners. I'm going to go back and look at the rest of this thread, but does anybody have any other ideas? _________________ Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it.

Hey thanks for reminding me! I am trying to find some good low fat desserts and I totally forgot about No Pudge. They are really good! Now I need to go pick some up. I've gone a week without chocolate. Not good... |

Put some berries (also frozen) in the blender along with the banana(s) and you get berry sorbet! It's delicious.
Fresh fruits (in pieces) and berries is also yummy with vanilla-flavoured quark (which you can buy in shops here, but I guess you can buy plain and put some vanilla and a bit of sugar in it. Or use yogurt although the flavour won't be the same). |

There's a low-fat vanilla cream recipe in Moosewood's low fat cookbook. It's something like low-fat (or no-fat) cottage cheese, blended up with a bit of vanilla and some sugar. It's delicious on top of all kinds of fruit, or thing's you'd usually put whipped cream or ice cream on top of. _________________ The plural of anecdote is not data.

My ma and I have always mixed her (Smuckers) natural chunky peanut butter with (Stonyfield Farm) vanilla yogurt as a snack. Yesterday though, I premixed it and refrigerated it to bring in my lunch and the difference was amazing! Before it was just clearly yogurt and peanut butter. Premixed and chilled? Tastes like peanut butter pie!!!!! I put some blueberries on top, but I think I prefer it without.
Also, my dad got this from a WeightWatchers meeting: Lowfat S'mores! Use lowfat honey graham crackers, a couple chunks of semisweet chocolate, and marshmallow fluff. I microwave one side of the graham cracker with the chocolate chunks for about 20 seconds. Then stick in the other side of the graham cracker with a dollop of marshmallow fluff and microwave together for another 10 seconds. Put 'em together and eat the gooey mess. Only 1 point! (Sometimes I must add the bad-for-you kind of peanut butter to these because I grew up eating PB on my S'mores. Yum.) |

That+ some graham crackers crushed up would be an awesome pie substitute!
My favorite snack isn't really low in fat, but it is filling! I mix peanut butter with dried milk and a little bit of honey. Sounds kinda gross, but really tasty! I used to mix in rice krispies or similar when I was a kid, I suppose that would make it lower fat. _________________ Midnightsky Fibers- great knitting patterns!

I'm just seeing this, and it reminded me. A previous boss made this, it can be low fat or not.
Grind up pretzles and a bit of butter (as a binder) spread in bottom of a casserole dish. Think grahm cracker crust.
Mix frozen(or fresh) raspberries in raspberry Jell-O, pour over pretzle crust. Let it set up. Cover with fat free/low fat cool whip.
Amazing. Great for summer. And you could substiute fruits and jello flavors. _________________ I pray to be like the ocean, with soft currents, maybe waves at times. More and more, I want the consistency rather than the highs and the lows.

i recently discovered "10 minute fudge sauce" (maybe 10 minutes is the normal time it takes? dunno!) and it = delicious. i'm not sure if i posted this before but i'll re-post it.
1 can low fat swtned condensed milk
dutch process unswtnd cocoa powder
vanilla extract
maple extract
warm up the condensed milk in a thick bottomed pan. stir in cocoa powder until very brown chocolatey coloured mixture. add the extracts.
remove from heat and pour through a sifter carefully pressing through cocoa powder lumps. this part takes most of the 10 minutes and is tedious but is definitely worth it!!!!!
serve with fresh fruit for dipping. this + strawberries of this + bananas = heaven!
i also found that adding coconut flavoured soft dessert tofu to smoothies make them much more rich tasting. like chocolate soy milk, banana, coconut dessert tofu smoothies taste AWESOME.
