I love. love. love. rhubarb. It kind of grows like a weed around here so in the spring there is always plenty. My favorite way to eat it is kind of like W&P only with oatmeal and a little dollop of cream instead of custard. _________________ we're still awesome (and by awesome, i mean dorky but supportive) -the boy |

I'm a fan of pitseleh's method too--I've been dunking rhubarb in sugar since I was a little kid.
Other than that, it usually goes in pies or crisps with apples or strawberries.
I love how simple rhubarb is to grow. Plant it once, don't worry about it at all, have a rhubarb patch for the rest of your life.
I dream one day of having a no (or very very low) maintenance garden with raspberry bushes, a strawberry patch, and a bunch of rhubarb. Yum yum. |

If you plant asparagus as well I'm moving in.
(I have the strawberries and mangy rhubarb already. I don't really have enough room for an asparagus bed though) |

[quote="pitseleh"]my favorite way to eat rhubarb is to just chomp on a stalk raw, dipping the end in sugar./quote]
when I was a kid, my friend and I sat in my backyard clubhouse one afternoon eating rhubarb this way. I ate so much that I burnt my tastebuds. Everything tasted like cream for about 2 weeks after. Not saying that's gonna happen but....true story |

It was probably the oxalic acid in the rhubarb that burnt your taste buds. _________________ we're still awesome (and by awesome, i mean dorky but supportive) -the boy |

I love rhubarb. My mom makes Rhubarb Bars, I don't have the recipe but I know the crust has butter and powdered sugar in it.
When we were little we used to eat it raw with salt. its like sour and salty, yumm. |

| How do I know when my rhubarb is ready to pick? The leaves are big, the stems are getting there, but it doesn't seem to be going really red like I remember it as a kid. Can I eat it when it is still mainly green? |
