Hi all! We are taking a vegas trip for my birthday but this time we are doing OLD Vegas! i.e. Rat Pack, Martini kind of stuff. Any suggestions for unusual stuff to do or suggestions for cheap but delicious food. We really wanted to do something different than strollin the strip.

If you walk down Freemont Street (the old strip) away from all the lights (heh, it dead ends one way- go the other way)-- you will find:
*the swankiest stripper store ever- complete with Rat Pack style clothing and flapper garb
*an awesome and cheap blues bar (it's 2 blocks from the 7-11, still on Freemont)

I wish I knew the names, but I was a few Jack&Cokes to the wind!

Binions is downtown and their food isn't bad at all.

The Stardust has been gone since like November, but as long as you hang out downtown you should be fine.

eta If you rent a car you can go to both the Hoover Dam and Red Rock in one day. The Hoover Dam is BIG and in Red Rock, you cannot take a bad picture.

Yep Freemont.

If you are on the Strip go to Bills Saloon.

Also if you wnat to check out local punk garage bands I highly recommend the Double Down Saloon!! It's an awesome dive and never a cover!

Fremont for sure....but if you're on the Strip I would recommend Barbary Coast (is it still there? I heard it was shutting down) and the steakhouse that is in there.

Is that the one that turned into Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon? That's where Big Elvis is now. He's awesome and the show is free.
