|
|
This has been swimming around in my head the last couple of days - I stumbled upon Glitter by chance when my sewing machine died, and I needed advice on getting a new one/sympathy about losing an old friend (I haven't thrown it away yet...)
And now Glitter is such a big part of my life. All my best friends are scattered all over the world (France, Anguilla, Gold Coast, middle of the WA desert, Oamaru) and so it is very difficult for me to catch up with them on a regular basis. And email just somehow isn't interactive enough to engage me. But there's always something happening on Glitter! So I always feel like there is something to catch up on, someone somewhere always has something to share, both the good times and the bad, and there is just so much support (thank you glitterati, thank you for being a friend). Even hubby comments from time to time on how much I get out of spending time on the boards, especially as a outlet for sharing my crafting. I have to admint, there was no lurking period for me: I posted the first day I found Glitter, and haven't stopped yet (500+ posts in 6 months, hmm, I hope I don't talk too much).
So what bought you here? |

| I used to hang out on the Bust boards- never go there now!- and they had a 'She's Crafty' thread that mentioned getcrafty.com, which used to be glitter's 'old' home. I headed over there and then when the supernaturale offshoot happened and took glitter with it I followed- I still very occasionally go over to the getcrafty forums but not much. |

| I'm not sure, actually. It was back in 2001 (on Old Glitter, obviously), but I think it was via ChickClick or something similar. For quite a while I only read the crafty boards because I expected the lifestyle one to be like most of the other forums I'd read, ie not welcoming to newbies, full of arguing and drama etc. Then I realised it wasn't like that, and that's what got me stuck. |

| Back in high school I used to frequent chickclick.com (which I still miss so very much to this day), and it had a link to getcrafty. Then after the getcrafty/supernaturale split, I came here because it had more traffic and just looked cooler in general. Glitter is such a huge part of my life now, I don't know what I would do without it. |

I think I followed a Not Martha link to Old Glitter sometime around 2001? I think it was a thread about making jeans into a skirt, but I don't really remember. I posted fr a few months over there, under a screen name I don't even remember, but then lurker a little here and there untiol I spared posting frequently a few years ago. And I hit a 1000 posts this week, which was all stange to see. I didn't think I had that much to say. _________________ You may have to sacrifice a bit of modesty in the name of badassery! -Knittykat |

A million years ago (7 years ago) I started posting on chickclick.
There was a post to getcrafty from there, and when the split happened, I ended up here.
7 years! Wow! _________________ beefy and confused. |

I followed a link somewhere - maybe Craftster? - to the t-shirt/underwear tutorial. I lurked for a while & then disappeared for a while after delurking... but now I'm here for good!
I am not active on any other forums, because I've never found one that is so predominantly lacking in bitchiness & politics. Glitter rocks. _________________ The furies are at home in the mirror; it is their address. |

| i think i followed a link from chickclick aswell...to old glitter...in fact, it must have been around autumn 2002, because i was on my gap year and miserable homesick/fed up of fighting with my team-mates...i remember spending all night closeted away in our computer cupboard on craft sites and discovering glitter (back when it was "get crafty") and...well the rest, as they say, is history. |

| My sister told me about glitter on getcrafty, which I believe she found through chickclick. Neither of us posted all that often on OG, but when the boards switched to Supernaturale, she wasn't online so she was unaware. I still try to get her to come on here, but for some reason, she's still frequenting the boards at getcrafty, which I know nothing about. |

I have no idea how I found the old glitter (getcrafty). I know it was sometime in high school then I obviously just followed over to the new glitter. _________________ Imagine kate. Now imagine kate frolicking naked with a platypus.
