Hey ladies & theboy!

I'm going to be in NYC June 28 - July 2nd, flying in and out of Newark. What's the cheapest way to get in and out of the city from the airport? Does the subway run there?

This is my first ever trip to New York, and I'm bringing my Mom (also her first time), so any suggestions of things to do, places to see would be very appreciated!

We're both extremely excited!

Thanks,

righteous!

PM with suggestions, if you want!

ETA: theboy! how could I forget him?! shame! his suggestions are welcome, too!

airtrain goes to newark. I actually like going to newark from manhattan on the airtrain much better than getting to JFK.

http://www.panynj.gov/airtrainnewark/ there's info.

Here's the last thread we had: http://www.supernaturale.com/glitter/viewtopic.php?t=31660

(I'm lazy and I don't want to type it all out again...)

Also, my husband's in an off-broadway play that starts next thursday and runs through august - it's a musical about MLK. Should be interesting! He plays in the band. www.waterwell.org

And kitchen - PM me if you want to hang out one day - I don't have a job so it's nice to have a reason to get out of the house. (Sorry Righteous, I'm busy while you're here!)

ditto on the airtrain by nj transit. youll be dumped right in penn station and then you can taxi it to wherever your hotel is.

the museum of natural history has a new exhibit about mythological creatures (unicorns, etc) that could be lots of fun. you can sit on the steps and have a hot dog for lunch for a cheap people watching experience. since the weather is better you can do the circle line which is a boat tour around manhatten island.

btw:
we might want to sticky the city info posts

hey righteous,
i visited nyc for the first time last july. it was the best trip i've ever taken! seriously.

our hotel was close to bryant park so we started off each day by grabbing some breakfast and taking it there to eat outside. i kid you not, that park was my most favourite thing about the city!

the new york public library is also really incredible (and it's right around the corner from bryant park). it's a massive old building that is just incredibly beautiful inside. free too!

we planned our days by where we'd be eating dinner that night and then just wandered around the city (mostly walking but also bought a metropass) heading in that general direction. we found a list of restaurants online before we left but perhaps this might not be as relevant to you. we're vegetarian so we wanted to make sure we would have some kick-ass veggie restaurants to visit while we were there (as opposed to getting stuck with pastas or stirfries because we didn't know where to eat). that helped immensely. if you want some recommendations, pm me.

have fun! the city is incredible and toronto will seriously feel so small in comparison when you get back!

ps. it was like a sauna when we were there in july so pack accordingly...
