hi,

chocolate. gotta have it. everyday. Yet, trying to lose 10 lbs by mind February...for the past few nights, I've been having 1% chocolate milk with a big scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt in it...good alternative to my usual chocolate bar or 6 cookies?? any other low fat satifying chocolate desserts?

this sounds gross, but is really tasty and satisfying.

A few scoops of frozen cool whip free, a graham cracker, a couple of frozen strawberries, mashi it all with a potato masher and drizzle with choc syrup.

Skinny Cow choc pudding bars are so good that I have to ration them.

One tiny perfect dark choc truffle is more satisfying then a hershey bar.

Sugarfree jello pudding made with skim milk (as long as you don't mind fake sweeteners). Low cal, low fat, and yummy.

If it doesn't have to be chocolate
-Tapioca pudding made with skim milk and half the sugar called for.
-apples, peeled, diced, tossed with a tbsp or two of brown sugar, and cinnamon, a dash each of nutmeg and ground ginger, and a tbsp or so of tapioca. Bake. It's like apple pie without the crust. So good.
-sugarless, crustless pumpkin pie. Use the can of Libby's pumpkin (not the pie filling, the 100% pumpkin). Follow the directions on the can, using nonfat evaporated milk and splenda instead of sugar, bake in a well greased 9 inch round casserole dish. Yum!
-a small (measure out 1/2 cup) bowl of corn pops, dry. They're pretty low sugar but very satisfying to pop into your mouth.

If you don't have pretty, tiny, little bowls or dessert dishes, go to the thrift store and buy some! They're fun to eat out of, and your small little serving of dessert doesn't look so lonely as it does sitting at the bottom of a big bowl.

I need to go back to practicing what I preach. I've been a sugar fiend lately! I can go for about a year very low sugar, and then I have a few months of decadence. I guess in January the decadence will have to end.

**eta**You wanted low fat, not low sugar, but all of the above are low fat. For me, it turns out that sugar is what makes me gain, not fat. I practically drink olive oil straight from the bottle and don't gain an ounce, but hand me two sugarful cookies and my hips widen noticeably. I didn't realize this for a long time and for years killed myself eating low fat.

Or the best dessert ever: put assorted fruits/berries in an oven-safe plate with high edges (like, kiwi, apples, pears, bananas, blueberries and raspberries (the frozen ones are much cheaper and it really doesn't matter in this dessert)) and put some chopped white chocolate on top. Put the oven on the highest warmth and put the plate in there when the oven is warm. Have it in for perhaps 5 minutes until the chocolate is a bit burned/browned. This will make it crispy and super yummy at the same time the fruits/berries has become a bit softer but still crispy enough to have texture. Serve with some vanilly ice-cream. Very quick, very fast to do, and not to expensive.

Pudding for one person
1 Tbsp cornstarch
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 Tbsp sugar (or use splenda)
3/4 cup milk (or use nonfat milk)
1/4 tsp vanilla

This is easiest to make in a pyrex measuring cup, or use a large enough cup or bowl to make sure it doesn't boil over. Blend all the ingredients into the milk and microwave on high for roughly 90 seconds until it boils. Add vanilla and stir. Refrigerate for an hour or so.

Good things to add are dried cherries or cranberries or a little cinnamon.

Freeze some bananas and blend them up in a food processor. It comes out like soft serve ice cream, and you could top it with some chocolate syrup.

Make a chocolate banana milkshake using chocolate soymilk and frozen bananas.

A small amount of really good, really dark chocolate. I have been trying to lose weight also and am allowing myself a few squares of green and blacks 70% cocoa chocolate. It is SO dark and rich I really have had enough after those few squares. And this is from someone who has been known inhale a box of oreos in 1 or 2 sittings.

tagging on to nicegirl, tapioca pudding is amazingly good with some cocoa powder in it (you'll probably want to add a little extra sugar).

An easy way to get a chocolate fix is to whip up some super rich hot chocolate. I stir sugar, cinnamon, cardamon, and cocoa powder into some hot milk until it's all frothy and so good! And there's pretty much no fat in it if you use skim milk or soy milk.

bittersweet chocolate (less fat and more intense chocolateness) and some fresh fruit, preferably strawberries. very satisfying. or try the opposite of what you crave, like pickles. seriously.

I'm probably the only person who eats this, but when I want something sweet and filling, I make a simple rice pudding. More like rice cereal than pudding. I'll take a cup of cooked brown rice and mix it with almost a cup of vanilla soymilk, and sprinkle it liberally with cinnamon-sugar. It's not a low calorie dessert...something like 215 cals for the rice and 100 for the soymilk, plus 30-40 for the cinnamon sugar...but it's really filling and healthy. You could blend the mixture in a blender for a more pudding consistency.

VioletKarma, do you mean just a quicker way of making rice porridge? When one boils round rice in half water and half milk..? Verrrry traditional Christmas dish here in Sweden together with cinnamon and sugar

you could have a few semisweet chocolate chips, tootsie rolls are much lower in fat than regular chocolate, you could freeze some bananas on some sticks and then dip them in chocolate, that way you get a thin coating of chocolate, but the inside is all natural and good for you as opposed to a snickers bar.

Or that beloved girl scout treat, banana boats. Cut a slit in an unpeeled banana, shove in chocolate chips and mini marshmallows, wrap in foil and heat in oven until chocolate is melted and banana warm. Eat with a spoon!
