Knit Knit #7 is coming out this Thursday the 15th at the NYC Museum of Art and Design 6-8. Tursday is pay what you can night and that makes it a perfect time to see the radical knitting and lace show. Sabrina will give a lecture and issue 7 designer, Elyse Allen wil be on hand too.

Freesoil has sprouted a link to Superuse.org, a clearing house of ideas for recycled product design. Gag me with a bamboo spoon, not another biodegradable, hemp bag! No this is for real with a Bic Ballpoint Chandelier, Diapers as a Roofgarden, and the Coca Cola Raft for starters. We need to do something with all this trash before we can move onto to the clean, green stuff.

Walter Ruffler is a groovy German ex-parliamentarian who makes complicated moving models out of cardboard. Many of these are pneumatic systems with pistons and pumps and bellows all made from paper. Ruffler's enthusiasm for his craft survives the occasionally-awkward translation from German. Compressed air for his expanding wedding cake, for instance, "is produced by a jerkey blowing into the air channel." At last, a use for my jerkey! In all seriousness, check it out. Many of his models are available as inexpensive kits.
