Brewing Mead with Amon Amarth

Brewing Mead with Amon Amarth

Just as the title suggests, this video is a how-to for all of you that have wondered about brewing mead. The best part, is that they give you a recipe for brewing in your parents basement with things like 1-gallon plastic jug and a ballon taped to the opening for air-lock. Genuis. Oh, and they are the most loveable death metal band that side of the Atlantic.

What not to Make, the Fiber Edition

What not to Make, the Fiber Edition

Well, something had to cheer me up and it was some defunct blogs that featured pictures of knitting and crochet (both current and nostalgic) that was easy to make fun of.

What not to knit
Favorite headline:"Do you like to sweat?" with a picture of highwaisted knit alpaca leggings, shirt tucked in.

Threadbared
Favorite headline:"Never Before Have We Seen Such A Shameless, Desperate Plea For Attention." accompanying a huge dolman sleeved 80's sweater with a teddy bear that says hug me.

I alternately laughed out loud and then said "hey that looks like a good idea." Thanks glitter

The History or Crochet

The History or Crochet

OK, A history of crochet. These 7 Belgian instructional panels from the 1950's sure would compliment any interior. They're good Punk Fui, right Tsia?

Brigid Berlin's Needlepoint

Brigid Berlin's Needlepoint

Brigid Berlin is a New York heiress who in the 60's became one of Warhol's stars and Factory regulars. She often appeared shirtless in his films. Her own performance work often involved calling her slightly crazy mom in front of a large audience and riling her mother up. Now she has left that world and returned into the upper east side life she came from. Apparently the synthesis of her many worlds is tabloid needlepoint! Thank to Harper's.

They make Nick Cave dolls?

They make Nick Cave dolls?

I want one. Sorry- couldn't help it. My pal Barbara and I just saw a show of the OTHER Nick Cave's work in NYC at the Jack Shainman Gallery. It is only up for 2 more days! It is so bad-ass ! ! Really- he has developed this language of the found object that is stunning. Who knew- there is a place to go with that after Joseph Cornell and Gee's Bend? Thank you Alex for the tip.
