Generation-T
I'm gonna give it to you straight: I was not in the mood for crafting last night. I wanted to see my friend Megan Nicolay, who was in town promoting her new book, Generation T: 120 New Ways to Fashion a T-Shirt. You know, grab a drink, gab with a crafty friend. But, I was there for her demo, and within minutes, I was a total t-shirt deconstruction devotée. Megan's ideas are so incredibly simple and inspiring that I transformed one of my old t-shirts first thing this morning (it took two cuts of the scissors) and now I'm wearing a t-shirt that was languishing at the bottom of my dresser drawer like it's my new favorite top. Because, it is! Megan's on a 10-city tour, so be sure to see where she goes next!> sublimestitcher on 06/30/09 #

I'm Crushing on Cosa Verde
I’ve been wishing for an online marketplace specializing in eco-friendly products. It’s as if Liz and Jeff of Cosa Verde answered my mental pleas. Their new, beautifully designed gallery connects 120 indie makers with environmentally conscious shoppers. Sellers’ wares are screened and must fit into at least one “green” category, such as organic, repurposed, or cruelty-free. That's a refreshing dose of transparency in a green-washed world!Check out my full review on the Re-Construct DVD blog.

Lick My Battery, Sucker
If you were to take all the great performers of the last century from Cab Calloway to Klaus Nomi, add the powerful voice of Nina Simone, the back story complexity of Sun Ra, and the face of an angel you might synthesize Janelle Monae, a soul singing android here to save the human race.> Tsia on 06/10/09 #
