I think the title speaks for itself. Just go to the video.

Brett Webb has been actively participating in the graffiti scene since 1988. He has painted walls and other objects from the West Coast to Europe and many places in between. In 1993, Brett became one half of the first website dedicated to graffiti, Art Crimes, at graffiti.org. As well as being featured as a panelist at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and part of the selection committee for the Altoids Curiously Strong Graffiti 2002 project committee, he has spoken at conferences and jams in Switzerland, Portugal and throughout the US. Brett currently resides in Brooklyn with his lovely wife Amanda and two huge black cats.

While killing a few hours at the Smithsonian and watching video of the Woods Hole Deep Sea subs, I got to wondering if any deep sea subs allow private citizens to hop on boards. It turns out, Stanley Submarines allows just that. Stanley started building subs when he was 9, in his backyard. At first I was very excited about the possibility, but after further research, I don't think I can hop on-board anytime soon.
Work has been taking me to DC a lot lately. The only perk that I can think of, is that the client is the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum. So I've been getting to poke around the museum more than I normally would. Here are two photos I took this week of toys from Africa and a matchstick rendition of a Black Star Line ship made from matchsticks.
When you can't throw your trash just anywhere. Louis V luxury dumpster found on Flickr.
The story of Roy and Silo, the gay penguins in the Central Park Zoo, always makes me all warm and fuzzy inside (it's hard to get much fuzzier on the outside, except for the top of my head..but that's a story probably more appropriate on another site). Mary Tremonte made a really cool print memorializing their relationship available on Just Seeds.
Just as the title suggests, this video is a how-to for all of you that have wondered about brewing mead. The best part, is that they give you a recipe for brewing in your parents basement with things like 1-gallon plastic jug and a ballon taped to the opening for air-lock. Genuis. Oh, and they are the most loveable death metal band that side of the Atlantic.
From the Fakeproject site: "In a bid to increase the quality and quantity of graffiti, The Fakeproject Corporation of America has issued a coloring book, free of charge, which allows graffiti artists to practice their tags before application in a real world situation."
They have some actually have some real nice templates to draw on!
I don't know anything about this, but I really love it. Think of stop motion animation done in graffiti. I would also love to do this if anyone wants to volunteer their space!
Within hip-hop, there's a long history of customizing clothes. Following in the footsteps of street and biker gangs, graffiti writers have taken jean jackets and made them their own since the early 70's.
The latest thing is to customize sneakers (kicks). There's a lot of crossover amongst stencil types and more traditional graffiti writers, and companies like Nike, Adidas and Converse are fully embracing the trend. The Sneaker Pimps live shows are the biggest sneaker lifestyle shows, taking over where Lowrider shows end. One of my favorite sneaker customizers is Jor-One, who's site is down right now, but you can find many more by doing searches for things like "custom kicks".
